In what I am told was a "scary scene" backstage at Raw about an hour ago, Vince McMahon pretty much told the WWE Creative team that he wanted to see things change and that no one's job was safe if they didn't.
Perhaps to illustrate his point, Bryan Gewirtz, who has been the top writer for the company for a long time and especially oversaw the Raw side of things, has been dropped from the creative team and was sent home from Raw. Gerwitz' official position was Senior Vice President of Creative Writing.

Technically, Gerwirtz is still with the company as of this writing. Gerwirtz being sent home was described as shocking to me and something that no one saw coming.

McMahon's declaration to the creative team comes just a week after the lowest rated Raw in 15 years last week. Since expanding to three hours, the flagship WWE series' ratings have slipped considerably, especially in the third hour.

As we noted in the Elite section of PWInsider.com last Monday, McMahon was visibly angry prior to Raw going on the air last week, although he mood lightened as the evening went on. The belief is that the pressure of getting ratings back up to where he and NBC Universal want them has been stressing.

Wow, Vince seems to be in panic mode almost.

TNA getting a rating of 0.84... ROH going downhill with no Cornette... WWE loses it's head booker...

Wrestling is going down the shitter fast.

Might as well start watching $5 Wrestling everybody 8D

That's what happens when you add an extra hour. Hopefully someone like Heyman is named head of creative.

I'm very curious about what he's going to say tonight now. I wonder if he has something planned or if he's in such panic that he's going to wing the whole thing and do something dumb aka have his limo blow up again for example.

Shit needs shaking up if they're to stay 3 hours because in my opinion it's already overstayed it's welcome and is usually pretty shit (the extra hour that is.)

That's the first thing I thought. I'd love for Heyman to take over as the Head of Creative. Imagine if ECW had the money, they'd have been around a hell of a lot longer.

They need to hire more writers and they need to have some new people in charge to determine the direction that they are going. Get back to mapping out some longterm plans, they should already have WM matches tentatively planned out and get the writers to work out a way to create new stars. The workload of eight hours a week, plus another three for a PPV, is clearly too much for the crew that they have.

Should bode well for tonight as Vince may once again push the reset button and announce something big.

Usually when Vince McMahon goes on one of his reported rants something usually happens. Thus far RAW has been its same old boring self. John Cena giving a rubbish promo and shouting and Ryback squashing a tag team which the commentary team were getting all excited about. As of this being written there doesn't appear to be many major changes yet. Perhaps I'm being too harsh. Maybe McMahon has realised he needs to listen to the fans now and this PG program needs to be revamped.

That's what I dont understand... Why not ask the fans to send in storylines? It's as if they have a bunch of Hollywood schlocks up there in Connecticut who think because they have a job that they can't take suggestions or openly take ideas from fans. I imagine it as a bunch of snobs in suits standing around with cocktails thinking to themselves "Oh we can't possibly take ideas from those peasants in the stands... they don't have a degree.. they don't know what storylines will make us the most money"

You're right. We don't. But wrestling is fickle as fuck. Who'd have thought a brawler who kicked everybody's ass and acted like a heel would make the company billions of dollars when the company was almost in the grave? It's as if the writers and the corporate levels up there in the Titan towers don't want to give anybody a chance who's not an 'insider', which is bullshit thinking. Rely on your fans, Vince!

Fans sending in ideas would lead to some terrible, terrible angles. They don't need to do anything that dramatic they need to hire a few more former wrestlers rather than Hollywood writers, people that have an understanding of how the wrestling business works.

THANK GOD.

Vince, you need to hire writers who are from the WRESTLING industry, not tv shows or movies. You have also needed to shake up the product for about a year now.
