Jason Powell of ProWrestling.NET reports that Vince Russo has been demoted from his job as head writer of Total Non-Stop Action. Former WWE talent/agent/writer Bruce Prichard (Brother Love) has taken over for Russo, who now works with Matt Conway in script coordination. Some are alleged to be unhappy with the move, as Prichard has amassed a bit of backstage power in a short amount of time. The change, however, had been expected for months. Russo was named as head writer of TNA in the fall of 2006, after taking a two year hiatus from the company to join the ministry and pursue other endeavors.

Thoughts?

I don't agree with the change, although Russo wasn't writing great TV I don't think Pritchard will do any better, Russo has a lot of experiance and knoews the talent from his many years there whereas Pritchard just waltzed in and somehow got a lot of power. Don't get me wrong im glad Russo's gone I just wish it could be Jarrett writing TV

I agree, after all the years with Russo in charge going to an outsider is an interesting move. I don't think this is going to have a huge impact either way.

But I don't understand the point you guys are making? The reason Russio is such a bad booker is because he doesn't understand wrestling full-stop, there fore anyone who understands pro wrestling would be an improvement, the issue is not weather that guy or woman works for TNA, but weather they have the knowledge and talent to do the job. Going on your logic Paul Heyman would do a worse job than Vince Russio.

On the other hand I don't think this will make for major changes for the following reasons.

1. Hogan and Bishoff had much of the creative control anyway and I think Russio had slowly been losing power at any rate.

2. There will be no sudden changes as TNA are in the middle of storylines/feuds etc.

3. Russio will still be involved in the creative side somehow.

4. I am not sure that long term Prichard will make that much difference, sure he has great experience and will be able to conexist with talent better, but I also think he kept his job for so long in WWF/WWE for because he was a yes man, and I don't think he will have the guts to try and do things his way.

I am really, really, really surprised that they went with Prichard. I mean seriously out of all the options they had they went with him!?!

Ever since Hogan/Bischoff came in I doubt that Russo had complete creative control and whilst Hogan and Bischoff are still around nothing major will change. Still think that the old team of Borash, Tenay and possible Jarrett produced the best product. I struggle to remember the combination but it definitely included Borash. It also helped when Scott DÃ￾more was involved with creative and was in charge of the KOs.

Russo better not come to the WWE, that's all I am saying on this matter.

WWE would never bring him back.

The D'Amore and Cornette periods which still had Russo on staff were there best.

I forgot about Cornette but yes when he was on creative with D'Amore they created good shows. Pity for TNA that neither are with TNA anymore. Big win for ROH to have Cornette and with D'Amore I am surprised that he hasn't been picked up by ROH or WWE yet.

D'Amore is happy running the occasional Indy show and Training School in Canada. He doesn't seem like a guy who would take a WWE job, as he would not have enough input on the product.

It's intresting that this move happened around the same time that hogan resigned, seeing as hogan and bischoff aren't fans of Russo and prichard is a freind of hogan

Fair enough. It just seems that he could improve the products a lot but you are right in that he probably wouldn't be given much of a say.

it would be nice if TNA had a complete shake up, and brought back guys like D'Amore. I think it's to late now as by the time they make another change no one will probably be intrested in the job.

Well under this new watch we see Storm winning the title so they have gone out of left field and created a new star. They have jobbed Roode out a bit when he should have been a star as well but we will see how it goes from here.
