Mafia Role Terms

Do you call something a hooker or a role blocker?
Investigator or cop?
Clown or Entertainer?

Feel free to post your preferred terms for roles here, so synonyms can be recognized to prevent any confusion for some of the new players that don't know all the alternative names and won't slip on the banana skin of inexperience.​

For me, it depends entirely on the flavor of the game. Like if the character I’m giving the protective role to is the doctor I’ll call them doctor if they’re more of a actual bodyguard, then I’ll use the bodyguard term even though I still think that’s a different role but were are used to calling the doctor the bodyguard around here anyway.

I think I only called a roleblocker a hooker once, but I usually still have them disarm a virgin role, regardless.

I haven’t used a traditional bodyguard in a long time because of the fact wf/ws mafia used this to mean Doctor so to be honest I was only using the doctor/bodyguard for the longest.

As for differently now, I don’t I guess. Same role. Just will call it one or the other.

What I might start doing now that wf mafia is slowly being phased out is put the doctor role in the role list and just call them a bodyguard in flavor.

And who knows, maybe use a legit bodyguard role in the future.

The difference then would be a doctor can stop a kill on a player at night and can theoretically self target, while a bodyguard dies instead of their target and can’t self target.

Outside of that issue, I use roles from mu almost exclusively. It’s pretty easy to figure out what terms I use. Outside of like 3 mafia scum have. Like the detective that can tell if you’ve killed before and gunsmith that knows if you can kill in general.

Same. I had to adjust when I first started playing at WF because they refused to use the word doctor and would just call it a bodyguard.

Always ask the house because some hosts don’t let the doctor self target.

some hosts say their doctors can self protect other say they can't Blaze. I personally don't think they should have self preservation - but that is a hosts discretion and its a very varied role aspect

If it’s a full doctor, they can use every night. I generally just say you can’t protect the same person two nights in a row. And that also means they can’t self protect two nights in a row.

I didn’t even think about asking, but from what Juice said there just now, I probably wouldn’t have been able to. Something told me that I was dying that night and I was not wrong haha.

Nurses, another name is been traditionally used interchangeably with the doctor role.

Watching people play IRL mafias fun because once the doctor gets outed they can stop the kill on themselves only once more so mafia have to figure out if he’s gonna use it that night or not because if they can figure that out they can kill the doctor for free.
