WWE Payback, June 2013
It’s Sunday, June 16, 2013, and the WWE Universe in the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL is going nuts waiting for the Second City Saint to make his highly-anticipated return to the ring. Michael Cole is giving the welcome to the viewers at home when he is interrupted by a siren. An ambulance backs into the arena and Ryback’s music hits. Ryback exits the back of the ambulance and makes his way down the ramp to the ring.
Ryback begins cutting a promo, and calls Cena a poison. The crowd responds favorably to the rundown of Cena. Ryback says the WWE Universe can admit it, and tonight, he will control the poison. Cena’s music hits, and Ryback paces the ring as Cena comes sprinting out full speed. Cena leaps into the ring and he and Ryback are exchanging punches. Cena gets the upper hand and attempts the AA, but Ryback slips out and clotheslines Cena from behind. Ryback drags Cena out of the ring and slams him against the ring-post repeatedly. Cena is trying to get back to his feet when Ryback lifts him and hits Shellshocked on the outside of the ring. Ryback pulls a stretcher from under the ring, and straps Cena to it, rolling him to the ambulance. Cena begins to stir, and Ryback puts a cloth over Cena’s face, and Cena is unconscious. Ryback loads Cena into the ambulance and pulls away out of the arena.
The crowd is shocked as Michael Cole fails to find the words to describe what we’ve just witnessed. Just then, Wade Barrett’s music hits. Out next is The Miz. Following The Miz is Curtis Axel, accompanied to the ring by Paul Heyman. The match begins with Axel & Barrett focusing on The Miz, who eventually gets Axel out of the ring. Axel spends a considerable amount of time seeking the guidance of Paul Heyman while Miz & Barrett tear each other apart. Axel wisely jumps in the ring to break up every pin attempt, but slithers away to stay fresh by Heyman. The Miz has had enough of these antics and jumps out of the ring, where Heyman cuts him off. Miz grabs Heyman, and Axel suckerpunches him and throws him over the barricade into the timekeeper’s lap. Axel jumps in the ring where he’s met by Barrett, who mounts some offense. Barrett gets a couple near falls as Miz is still out. As Miz is getting up, Heyman hits him with the Intercontinental Championship. Barrett goes for the Bullhammer elbow but Axel moves aside and Wade stops himself short of killing the referee. Axel hits a low blow on Wade while the referee’s back is turned, and then hits the Perfect Plex for a roll-up victory.
Winner and New Intercontinental Champion: Curtis Axel
After the match, Axel and Heyman are celebrating when Zeb Colter appears on the ramp applauding the third generation superstar on his victory. Paul Heyman grabs a mic and tells Zeb, “I can understand why you wanted to get a closer look at what a real championship manager and champion look like” when Antonio Cesaro’s music hits to a loud pop. Zeb tells Heyman, “Me and Cesaro are coming after that Intercontinental Title, just like the great men before us who traveled from continent to continent claiming them as their new home.”
We go to a video package for The Wyatt Family.
We return and Paul Heyman is still in the ring. He has a microphone and tells the crowd “The match between my client and Chris Jericho was scheduled to take place next, but Chicago does not deserve to be robbed of their hero having to perform second on the card.” The crowd cheers Heyman and begins chanting “CM Punk!”
We are shown highlights from earlier in the night at the pre-show where Sheamus defeated Damian Sandow after Cody Rhodes attempted to interfere but tripped up Sandow by accident resulting in a Brogue Kick.
Kane makes his way to the ring. Out next is Ambrose. The bell rings and Kane wastes no time going after Dean, who tries to compose himself on the outside, but Kane cuts him off. Kane is infuriated and brings Ambrose back into the ring. Kane hits a series of moves looking like he is going to put the match away early, but Ambrose kicks Kane in the knee out of nowhere, and then works his leg on the ring-post. Ambrose drags Kane from the ring and drops elbows across his knee. Ambrose jumps back in the ring and the ref starts a 10-count. Kane makes it back in at 9 and Ambrose immediately goes back to the knee. Kane makes his comeback and builds some momentum. Kane goes to the top rope, but can’t get his footing. Ambrose tries to fight back, but Kane fights him off and finally gets up. Kane jumps but Ambrose sidesteps him and Kane’s knee gives on the landing. Ambrose pulls Kane up and hits his inverted DDT for the victory.
Winner and still United States Champion: Dean Ambrose
After the match, The Shield swarm and they surround Kane who crawls back into the corner. GONG! The lights go out, the crowd goes insane. With another GONG! The lights return and there is a thick smoke in the arena as The Shield stand alone in the ring with no sign of Kane anywhere.
Cole looks perplexed and says this night is just getting weirder and weirder, and then recaps what happened earlier between Cena & Ryback. Cole says the authorities have been contacted and as soon as an update can be given, the WWE Universe will know.
Out next is Albertooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo DEL Rioooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Followed by Dolph Ziggler, accompanied to the ring by Big E. Langston and AJ Lee. Ziggler takes his time avoiding Del Rio to start the match. Ziggler jumps outside and Del Rio follows, only to be cut off by Big E. as Dolph taunts with a kiss from AJ. Dolph gets back in the ring after requesting the referee make Del Rio back up. When Dolph gets in, Del Rio charges into the corner. The referee has to break up the five count and Dolph with a thumb to the eye of Del Rio. Dolph controls the tempo of the match, countering Del Rio anytime it looks like he may mount a comeback. Eventually Del Rio gets hot, and after hitting some high impact moves like his German suplex and super kick, he gets near falls. The crowd is pro-Ziggler as Del Rio attempts to lock in the cross arm breaker. AJ pulls Dolph’s legs around the bottom rope, and the referee sees and kicks her from ringside. Del Rio locks in the cross armbreaker in the middle of the ring, and Dolph maneuvers just enough to get near the ropes. As he is about to tap, Big E. tries to pull his legs around the bottom rope, but Rodriguez points the referee in that direction and Big E. has to stop himself before being tossed. Rodrigues takes the opportunity to grab one of Del Rio’s hands for leverage and Dolph is tapping as Big E. gets on the apron to distract the referee. Rodriguez tries to pull Big E. off of the apron, and gets attacked. The ref throws Big E. out, who is causing a commotion. As the referee is distracted, AJ sneaks in through the crowd and claws at Del Rio’s eyes. Dolph hits the Zig Zag on a dazed Del Rio and gets the win.
Winner and still World Heavyweight Champion: Dolph Ziggler
After the match, Del Rio tries to attack Big E. and Dolph is getting ready to hit Del Rio with a super kick. Del Rio ducks out of the way just in time and Dolph is caught by Big E. who does not look pleased with the near-miss. AJ tries to calm Big E. down.
In the back, an ambulance pulls up and Ryback climbs out. Striker is there to ask him what has happened to Cena, and Ryback says Cena was delivered to Mount Sinai Hospital. Striker asks Ryback how he intends to win the WWE Championship if Cena is unable to show and Ryback grabs him by the throat and puts him against the side of the ambulance and says, “It will be relinquished to me.”
Back at ringside, AJ Lee is in the ring awaiting Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn rushes the ring and attacks AJ before the bell. The referee tries to separate the two, but Kaitlyn will not stop. More officials rush the ring to separate them, and AJ has snapped and is trying to claw her way to Kaitlyn. Dolph and Big E. show up to separate them when Dolph and AJ realize Big E. is holding Kaitlyn back. Big E. eases up his grip and they clear the ring and the match begins. AJ gets the upper hand as Dolph and Big E. seem to be at odds on the outside of the ring. At one point, Dolph is about to get on the apron to distract the ref, and Big E. grabs him and prevents him from the distraction. Dolph asks Big E. where his loyalties lie, and there is an intense staredown. AJ is distracted and tries to get the two to calm down. AJ turns around to a spear and Kaitlyn retains her title.
Winner and still Divas Champion: Kaitlyn
After the match, AJ is fed up with both of them and slaps Langston, who is furious. Langston turns his back and is furious. Del Rio appears out of nowhere and just as Langston is about to run over Dolph, he hits Del Rio instead, and Dolph is unaware he was the target of Langston’s attack.
In the back, Matt Striker is waiting in the parking lot for John Cena to show up.
Back in the ring, The Shield make their entrance. Randy Orton appears to boos from the crowd. Daniel Bryan is out next and the crowd goes insane. Yes! chants all the way down the aisle. Orton and Rollins start the match off and Orton gets the upper hand early. He tags in Bryan who locks in a few submissions on Rollins. He tags Orton back in and Rollins with a desperation dropkick. Rollins tags in Reigns and they isolate Orton and keep him in their corner exchanging tag after tag. Orton gets close to tagging Bryan several times, and the crowd’s anticipation is through the roof. Bryan is getting pumped up on the outside as Orton starts fighting out of a Rollins headlock. The crowd is chanting Yes! with every taunt by Bryan in the corner. Orton just about to make the tag when Reigns runs around the ring and yanks Bryan off of the apron and throws him into the stairs. The Shield continue to focus on Orton who is kicking out of a lot of near falls. Finally, Bryan gets back on the apron and gets the crowd into it again. Reigns runs back around the ring again to try and cut off the tag, but Bryan kicks him and Orton makes the tag. Bryan climbs the ropes and hits a front dropkick on Rollins. Bryan runs the ropes and hits a suicide dive to Reigns. Bryan gets back on the top rope after Orton RKO’s Rollins and hits a diving headbutt. Reigns gets in the ring and Bryan breaks the pin to trip Reigns. Bryan starts kicking both men repeatedly and hits them both in the head. Suddenly, the referee grabs Bryan and forces him out of the ring as he apparently did not see the tag moments ago. Bryan is furious. Orton grabs Reigns/Rollins and tries to hit a double DDT from the ropes, but The Shield reverses it and they toss Orton over the ropes to the outside. Reigns drags Orton back in and Orton with an RKO out of nowhere, but he can’t make the pin. He finally covers Reigns, who kicks out at 2½ and Orton begins crawling to the corner. Reigns crawls and tags in Rollins. Orton tags in Bryan. Bryan ducks Rollins, hits the rope, ducks Rollins again and hits the rope, then hits his flying forearm. Bryan throws Reigns in the corner. He throws Rollins in the opposite corner. Dropkick to each man. Starts kicking them both again. Hits the roundhouse to their heads. Orton gets in and throws Reigns out. Bryan picks up Rollins who shoves Bryan back into Orton. Bryan kicks Rollins, but Orton spins Bryan around and RKO’s him. The crowd boos Orton even louder. Orton slips out of the ring and Rollins covers Bryan for the pin and the win.
Winner and still WWE Tag Team Champions: The Shield
After the match, Orton picks up Bryan and slaps him before hitting another RKO. The boos are deafening. Orton goes blank and backs up to the corner. He is getting ready to punt Bryan. Just before he begins running towards Bryan, GONG! The lights cut out. The crowd goes insane again! The lights come back on with another GONG! and Orton is alone in the middle of the ring surrounded by a creepy fog.
Cole looks even more perplexed as he transitions back to Striker. Striker says he still hasn’t seen John Cena, but a limousine has pulled up and nobody has exited.
Back at ringside, Chris Jericho makes his entrance. He is awaiting CM Punk, when Paul Heyman appears on the stage. Heyman is buying time as he runs down Jericho. Loud CM Punk chants fill the arena and Heyman almost can’t be heard over the microphone. Heyman says CM Punk will not be wrestling Chris Jericho tonight. The crowd boos. Jericho grabs a mic and says Heyman signed on behalf of Punk. Heyman says he signed on behalf of his client. Jericho says Axel already had a match tonight. Heyman smirks as Brock Lesnar’s music hits. Lesnar makes his way to the ring with Heyman and Jericho looks uneasy. Brock and Jericho are going back and forth in a high-tempo match. Brock tries to slow it down with a brutal style, hitting some ground and pound. He opens Jericho’s forehead up and there’s blood everywhere. Brock slows it down even more, stalking Jericho before hitting him with a huge overhead belly-to-belly and Jericho slides out of the ring from the impact. Heyman hypes Lesnar up from ringside. Jericho gets back in the ring as Brock is playing to the crowd and in a last-ditch effort, hits a Codebreaker. Both men are out. Heyman is urging Brock on. Both men return to their feet and Brock charges at Jericho who ducks and Brock tumbles outside. Jericho follows him out after regrouping and sends Brock into the ringpost, which has gotten more action tonight than Lawler will for the rest of his life. Brock is now opened up. Jericho throws him into the ring, slides in, and applies the Walls of Jericho. Brock is fighting for the ropes as Heyman panics. Brock powers out, and Jericho rolls through, gets up, and goes for the Codebreaker again. Brock catches him mid-air and hoists him onto his shoulders, but Jericho rolls out with a victory roll and tries to lock in the Walls of Jericho again. Brock fights out and locks in the Kimura. Heyman is yelling for Brock to break Jericho’s arm. *Static* “LOOK IN MY EYES! WHAT DO YOU SEE? THE CULT OF PERSONALITY!” The crowd goes insane. Brock is holding the Kimura. Heyman looks shocked instead of ecstatic. Punk appears on the stage and the fans come unglued and the roof blows off of the Allstate Arena. Punk makes his way down to the ring and walk around and brushes Heyman’s blazer off. Brock releases the hold and yells out of the ring at Punk and Heyman. Punk ignores Brock, and Brock jumps out of the ring and grabs Punk. Punk with a roundhouse to Brock! Heyman still standing shocked. The referee is still tending to Jericho. Punk rolls Brock into the ring and Jericho hits another Codebreaker for the three-count.
Winner: Jericho
After the match, Punk rolls into the ring and stands over Lesnar. Punk looks around at the crowd, chanting “CM PUNK!” Punk smirks, picks up Lesnar and hits a GTS as the crowd erupts and Heyman stands outside, still perplexed. Punk exits the ring and grabs a microphone. He asks Heyman to have a seat on the announcer’s table with him. Punk tells Heyman he shouldn’t have taken liberties with his name; that isn’t what friends do. Heyman tries to apologize and Punk cuts him off. Punk looks at Brock. “You see, Brock Lesnar left this business because he couldn’t hack it. He needed legitimacy so he left.” Well, Punk says he represents the legitimacy of the WWE and if Brock Lesnar is looking for a legitimate fight, Punk isn’t very hard to find. Punk shoves the microphone into Heyman’s chest and walks off as Lesnar looks on.
Outside in the parking lot, Striker is still waiting for Cena to arrive.
Ryback makes his entrance and heads down to the ring. Cole selling Cena’s absence after the attack. They go to replays of what Ryback did to Cena, and then of Ryback telling Striker he dropped Cena off at Mount Sinai Hospital. Back in the ring, and Ryback has a microphone. He calls for Vickie Guerrero to do the right thing and hand him the WWE Championship. Vickie does not come out, and Ryback demands she show up. All of a sudden, there are sirens as the cameras cut to the back and Striker is diving out of the way of an ambulance. The ambulance backs into the arena and John Cena exits. Cena is not in great shape but he makes his way to the ring. Vickie rushes out with security so they can keep the two separated until the lumberjacks show up. The lumberjacks enter and surround the ring, and the match is underway. Cena rushes throwing punches, but Ryback quickly gets the upper hand as he works Cena’s back. Ryback tosses Cena to the outside of the ring and distracts the ref as the lumberjacks beat Cena down and throw him back into the ring. Near fall. Ryback charges Cena who throws him over the top rope. The lumberjacks toss Ryback back into the ring after attacking him. Cena with a near fall. Ryback makes it back to his feet first, runs at Cena for the lariat, but Cena with a drop-toe-hold into the STF. Ryback taps out quickly and the ref breaks the hold. Cena locks the hold back on immediately and is pulled off again before shoving the ref and he and Ryback are in an all-out brawl. The lumberjacks begin brawling, and Mr. McMahon enters to call everyone to order.
As the lumberjacks flee and security again separates Cena and Ryback, the match continues into a tables match. Ryback and Cena brawl again until Ryback grabs Cena and delivers a backbreaker. Cena writhes on the mat as Ryback crawls out and grabs a table and slides it into the ring. Ryback sets the table up and grabs Cena who makes his comeback. Cena hits the 5-knuckle shuffle and grabs another table which he sets up longways in the corner. Cena puts Ryback across the table and climbs the top rope. Ryback gets up and gets ready to throw Cena off the turnbuckle through the table, but Cena counters with a headbutt. Cena gets off the top rope and picks Ryback up on his shoulders, getting ready to position him for an AA through the table. Ryback with elbows, slides out, and picks up Cena for a powerbomb and puts Cena through the table out of nowhere. Ryback picks up Cena and puts him through the other table with another powerbomb. Cena is out. Ryback crawls out of the ring as the ref announces the start of the ambulance match.
Ryback pulls Cena out of the ring and puts him on his shoulders. Ryback carries Cena up the aisle towards the ambulance. Cena fights out and shoves Ryback face-first into the ambulance. They fight around the set with Cena getting close to putting Ryback in the ambulance a few times. Ryback with a low blow and then he climbs to the top of the ambulance. Cena follows him once he recovers. They exchange punches on top of the ambulance, but Cena gets the better of the exchange. Cena starts to lift Ryback for an AA, but his back gives out. Ryback beats down Cena, then lifts him and hits Shellshocked on top of the ambulance. Ryback climbs down from the ambulance after shoving Cena off the top. Cena isn’t moving. Ryback grabs Cena to pull him up and Cena with another drop toe hold out of nowhere. Ryback fights the application of the STF, but Cena gets the better of him and locks the hold in. Ryback is trying to tap but there is no submission. Cena wrenches at Ryback’s neck even more and Ryback passes out. Cena releases the hold and takes a moment to get up. He struggles to load Ryback into the ambulance because of his back. He gets Ryback in, but then Ryback grabs Cena and pulls him into the ambulance and the door pulls shut. The referee checks on the ambulance and then calls for the bell. The result of the match is a draw.
As a result of the draw, John Cena is still the WWE Champion.

After the match, Del Rio tries to attack Big E. and Dolph is getting ready to hit Del Rio with a super kick. Del Rio ducks out of the way just in time and Dolph is caught by Big E. who does not look pleased with the near-miss. AJ tries to calm Big E. down.
In the back, an ambulance pulls up and Ryback climbs out. Striker is there to ask him what has happened to Cena, and Ryback says Cena was delivered to Mount Sinai Hospital. Striker asks Ryback how he intends to win the WWE Championship if Cena is unable to show and Ryback grabs him by the throat and puts him against the side of the ambulance and says, “It will be relinquished to me.”
Back at ringside, AJ Lee is in the ring awaiting Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn rushes the ring and attacks AJ before the bell. The referee tries to separate the two, but Kaitlyn will not stop. More officials rush the ring to separate them, and AJ has snapped and is trying to claw her way to Kaitlyn. Dolph and Big E. show up to separate them when Dolph and AJ realize Big E. is holding Kaitlyn back. Big E. eases up his grip and they clear the ring and the match begins. AJ gets the upper hand as Dolph and Big E. seem to be at odds on the outside of the ring. At one point, Dolph is about to get on the apron to distract the ref, and Big E. grabs him and prevents him from the distraction. Dolph asks Big E. where his loyalties lie, and there is an intense staredown. AJ is distracted and tries to get the two to calm down. AJ turns around to a spear and Kaitlyn retains her title.

After the match, AJ is fed up with both of them and slaps Langston, who is furious. Langston turns his back and is furious. Del Rio appears out of nowhere and just as Langston is about to run over Dolph, he hits Del Rio instead, and Dolph is unaware he was the target of Langston’s attack.
In the back, Matt Striker is waiting in the parking lot for John Cena to show up.
Back in the ring, The Shield make their entrance. Randy Orton appears to boos from the crowd. Daniel Bryan is out next and the crowd goes insane. Yes! chants all the way down the aisle. Orton and Rollins start the match off and Orton gets the upper hand early. He tags in Bryan who locks in a few submissions on Rollins. He tags Orton back in and Rollins with a desperation dropkick. Rollins tags in Reigns and they isolate Orton and keep him in their corner exchanging tag after tag. Orton gets close to tagging Bryan several times, and the crowd’s anticipation is through the roof. Bryan is getting pumped up on the outside as Orton starts fighting out of a Rollins headlock. The crowd is chanting Yes! with every taunt by Bryan in the corner. Orton just about to make the tag when Reigns runs around the ring and yanks Bryan off of the apron and throws him into the stairs. The Shield continue to focus on Orton who is kicking out of a lot of near falls. Finally, Bryan gets back on the apron and gets the crowd into it again. Reigns runs back around the ring again to try and cut off the tag, but Bryan kicks him and Orton makes the tag. Bryan climbs the ropes and hits a front dropkick on Rollins. Bryan runs the ropes and hits a suicide dive to Reigns. Bryan gets back on the top rope after Orton RKO’s Rollins and hits a diving headbutt. Reigns gets in the ring and Bryan breaks the pin to trip Reigns. Bryan starts kicking both men repeatedly and hits them both in the head. Suddenly, the referee grabs Bryan and forces him out of the ring as he apparently did not see the tag moments ago. Bryan is furious. Orton grabs Reigns/Rollins and tries to hit a double DDT from the ropes, but The Shield reverses it and they toss Orton over the ropes to the outside. Reigns drags Orton back in and Orton with an RKO out of nowhere, but he can’t make the pin. He finally covers Reigns, who kicks out at 2½ and Orton begins crawling to the corner. Reigns crawls and tags in Rollins. Orton tags in Bryan. Bryan ducks Rollins, hits the rope, ducks Rollins again and hits the rope, then hits his flying forearm. Bryan throws Reigns in the corner. He throws Rollins in the opposite corner. Dropkick to each man. Starts kicking them both again. Hits the roundhouse to their heads. Orton gets in and throws Reigns out. Bryan picks up Rollins who shoves Bryan back into Orton. Bryan kicks Rollins, but Orton spins Bryan around and RKO’s him. The crowd boos Orton even louder. Orton slips out of the ring and Rollins covers Bryan for the pin and the win.

After the match, Orton picks up Bryan and slaps him before hitting another RKO. The boos are deafening. Orton goes blank and backs up to the corner. He is getting ready to punt Bryan. Just before he begins running towards Bryan, GONG! The lights cut out. The crowd goes insane again! The lights come back on with another GONG! and Orton is alone in the middle of the ring surrounded by a creepy fog.
Cole looks even more perplexed as he transitions back to Striker. Striker says he still hasn’t seen John Cena, but a limousine has pulled up and nobody has exited.
Back at ringside, Chris Jericho makes his entrance. He is awaiting CM Punk, when Paul Heyman appears on the stage. Heyman is buying time as he runs down Jericho. Loud CM Punk chants fill the arena and Heyman almost can’t be heard over the microphone. Heyman says CM Punk will not be wrestling Chris Jericho tonight. The crowd boos. Jericho grabs a mic and says Heyman signed on behalf of Punk. Heyman says he signed on behalf of his client. Jericho says Axel already had a match tonight. Heyman smirks as Brock Lesnar’s music hits. Lesnar makes his way to the ring with Heyman and Jericho looks uneasy. Brock and Jericho are going back and forth in a high-tempo match. Brock tries to slow it down with a brutal style, hitting some ground and pound. He opens Jericho’s forehead up and there’s blood everywhere. Brock slows it down even more, stalking Jericho before hitting him with a huge overhead belly-to-belly and Jericho slides out of the ring from the impact. Heyman hypes Lesnar up from ringside. Jericho gets back in the ring as Brock is playing to the crowd and in a last-ditch effort, hits a Codebreaker. Both men are out. Heyman is urging Brock on. Both men return to their feet and Brock charges at Jericho who ducks and Brock tumbles outside. Jericho follows him out after regrouping and sends Brock into the ringpost, which has gotten more action tonight than Lawler will for the rest of his life. Brock is now opened up. Jericho throws him into the ring, slides in, and applies the Walls of Jericho. Brock is fighting for the ropes as Heyman panics. Brock powers out, and Jericho rolls through, gets up, and goes for the Codebreaker again. Brock catches him mid-air and hoists him onto his shoulders, but Jericho rolls out with a victory roll and tries to lock in the Walls of Jericho again. Brock fights out and locks in the Kimura. Heyman is yelling for Brock to break Jericho’s arm. *Static* “LOOK IN MY EYES! WHAT DO YOU SEE? THE CULT OF PERSONALITY!” The crowd goes insane. Brock is holding the Kimura. Heyman looks shocked instead of ecstatic. Punk appears on the stage and the fans come unglued and the roof blows off of the Allstate Arena. Punk makes his way down to the ring and walk around and brushes Heyman’s blazer off. Brock releases the hold and yells out of the ring at Punk and Heyman. Punk ignores Brock, and Brock jumps out of the ring and grabs Punk. Punk with a roundhouse to Brock! Heyman still standing shocked. The referee is still tending to Jericho. Punk rolls Brock into the ring and Jericho hits another Codebreaker for the three-count.
Winner: Jericho
After the match, Punk rolls into the ring and stands over Lesnar. Punk looks around at the crowd, chanting “CM PUNK!” Punk smirks, picks up Lesnar and hits a GTS as the crowd erupts and Heyman stands outside, still perplexed. Punk exits the ring and grabs a microphone. He asks Heyman to have a seat on the announcer’s table with him. Punk tells Heyman he shouldn’t have taken liberties with his name; that isn’t what friends do. Heyman tries to apologize and Punk cuts him off. Punk looks at Brock. “You see, Brock Lesnar left this business because he couldn’t hack it. He needed legitimacy so he left.” Well, Punk says he represents the legitimacy of the WWE and if Brock Lesnar is looking for a legitimate fight, Punk isn’t very hard to find. Punk shoves the microphone into Heyman’s chest and walks off as Lesnar looks on.
Outside in the parking lot, Striker is still waiting for Cena to arrive.
Ryback makes his entrance and heads down to the ring. Cole selling Cena’s absence after the attack. They go to replays of what Ryback did to Cena, and then of Ryback telling Striker he dropped Cena off at Mount Sinai Hospital. Back in the ring, and Ryback has a microphone. He calls for Vickie Guerrero to do the right thing and hand him the WWE Championship. Vickie does not come out, and Ryback demands she show up. All of a sudden, there are sirens as the cameras cut to the back and Striker is diving out of the way of an ambulance. The ambulance backs into the arena and John Cena exits. Cena is not in great shape but he makes his way to the ring. Vickie rushes out with security so they can keep the two separated until the lumberjacks show up. The lumberjacks enter and surround the ring, and the match is underway. Cena rushes throwing punches, but Ryback quickly gets the upper hand as he works Cena’s back. Ryback tosses Cena to the outside of the ring and distracts the ref as the lumberjacks beat Cena down and throw him back into the ring. Near fall. Ryback charges Cena who throws him over the top rope. The lumberjacks toss Ryback back into the ring after attacking him. Cena with a near fall. Ryback makes it back to his feet first, runs at Cena for the lariat, but Cena with a drop-toe-hold into the STF. Ryback taps out quickly and the ref breaks the hold. Cena locks the hold back on immediately and is pulled off again before shoving the ref and he and Ryback are in an all-out brawl. The lumberjacks begin brawling, and Mr. McMahon enters to call everyone to order.
As the lumberjacks flee and security again separates Cena and Ryback, the match continues into a tables match. Ryback and Cena brawl again until Ryback grabs Cena and delivers a backbreaker. Cena writhes on the mat as Ryback crawls out and grabs a table and slides it into the ring. Ryback sets the table up and grabs Cena who makes his comeback. Cena hits the 5-knuckle shuffle and grabs another table which he sets up longways in the corner. Cena puts Ryback across the table and climbs the top rope. Ryback gets up and gets ready to throw Cena off the turnbuckle through the table, but Cena counters with a headbutt. Cena gets off the top rope and picks Ryback up on his shoulders, getting ready to position him for an AA through the table. Ryback with elbows, slides out, and picks up Cena for a powerbomb and puts Cena through the table out of nowhere. Ryback picks up Cena and puts him through the other table with another powerbomb. Cena is out. Ryback crawls out of the ring as the ref announces the start of the ambulance match.
Ryback pulls Cena out of the ring and puts him on his shoulders. Ryback carries Cena up the aisle towards the ambulance. Cena fights out and shoves Ryback face-first into the ambulance. They fight around the set with Cena getting close to putting Ryback in the ambulance a few times. Ryback with a low blow and then he climbs to the top of the ambulance. Cena follows him once he recovers. They exchange punches on top of the ambulance, but Cena gets the better of the exchange. Cena starts to lift Ryback for an AA, but his back gives out. Ryback beats down Cena, then lifts him and hits Shellshocked on top of the ambulance. Ryback climbs down from the ambulance after shoving Cena off the top. Cena isn’t moving. Ryback grabs Cena to pull him up and Cena with another drop toe hold out of nowhere. Ryback fights the application of the STF, but Cena gets the better of him and locks the hold in. Ryback is trying to tap but there is no submission. Cena wrenches at Ryback’s neck even more and Ryback passes out. Cena releases the hold and takes a moment to get up. He struggles to load Ryback into the ambulance because of his back. He gets Ryback in, but then Ryback grabs Cena and pulls him into the ambulance and the door pulls shut. The referee checks on the ambulance and then calls for the bell. The result of the match is a draw.
As a result of the draw, John Cena is still the WWE Champion.
We go off air with the ambulance pulling away.
