PWInsider.com has heard from several sources that Josh Mathews was let go over the last 24 hours. His profile has already been removed from WWE.com, although the company has not yet acknowledged his departure. His profile is now in the alumni section of the website.

Mathews has been with the company since the original Tough Enough reality series on MTV and had been doing announcing as well as hosting the WWE Network's Raw, Smackdown and PPV Pre and Post Show panels.

He lasted well. Over 10 years in the company. Should be interesting to see who replaces him on the Pre & Post show panels, i'd assume it'll be Renee Young.

I guess they figure they don't need him anymore. I always really liked him and thought he was probably one of the best they had today. Alex Riley has really stepped up though as of late and I love what he's been doing on the Preshows and commentary. Going to be weird to watch the pre show now and not have Josh on it

It is Renee Young.....already advertised.

She is the future of WWE's broadcasting.

Matthews wasn't no "frosted-tips phenom" and wasn't much of a commentator, only thing I really remember him for is WWE.com exclusives like Jimmy White "suicides" and Road Dogg and him watching shitty wrestling segments.

I liked Josh quite a bit actually. He's wasn't too over-the-top or anything, but I thought he did his job very well. I'm not surprised by the release though, and he'll be easily replaceable.

Bit disappointed with this release tbh, seemed like a good company guy who filled various different positions for them but never really mastered one even though he should be calling SmackDown. Guessing he's going to be replaced in some of his duties by the NXT scrubs who are absolutely garbage.

Not exactly understanding the shock to this, he wasn't exactly Mean Gene in the interviewers position, nor was he all that great in the panel. Seeing as there were a bunch of guys who took his spot playing b-squad to Renee's a-squad, you could read the writing on the wall.

Not shocking at all but do think they let go a good hand. He wasn't amazing or nothing like that but he was solid enough to maintain a job for a long period of time.

They could just have Booker announce on TV again

Its no shock, but I didn't really see it coming either, and think that others were more expendable. Matthews had slow start, but grew into the role over time, and as a b-announcer I had no problem with him.

He's easily replaceable and like Deezy said I'm sure Renee Young will step into his spot quite easily.

But still, I didn't expect it since he was there so long and did his job respectfully.

He had that comfortable 'sports broadcaster' style that Todd Grisham had, thats all I ask for really, to be steady and not fuck up while the color guy tries to be funny/annoying.

He'll prol get a gig at ESPN.

I would go along with this. By all accounts Young is the future, but think Matthews has done a solid job and could do well outside of wrestling.

Pretty disappointed. Thought he had potential to take over for Cole I mean Renee I've always found meh and the other two lower tier commentators I've always disliked.
