I spoke with a source in TNA this morning who told me that there was a genuinely horrific backstage reaction to Dixie Carter's latest Tweet concerning Impact and Shawn Michaels.

For those who did not read the Tweet, Carter posted the following this past Tuesday: "Thank goodness he can only retire once...hopefully. Shawn, congrats on an amazing career!"

Carter was reacting to the very low 0.56 cable rating that Impact drew this past Monday night and her Tweet seemed to blame the low rating on the fact that WWE was booked Shawn Michaels' retirement speech for Raw that night, which took away from TNA's ratings. However, when you look at the quarter hour break down of the show, the entire show performed poorly which in no way can be blamed on the HBK segment on Raw, which aired in the show's main event time slot.

According to the TNA source I spoke with, many people backstage in the company were shocked that Dixie actually blamed the rating on the HBK segment, and feel that her Tweet further proved that she has a lot to learn. Additionally, many people felt that her Tweet was more of an excuse for the poor Impact rating as opposed to a respectful farewell to HBK, which it seemed like she was going for.

Lol Dixie is just like all of you TNA die hard extremists out there. She blames her bad rating on HBK but the whole show was crap across the board.

Desperate for a scapegoat to their ratings problem. Sorry Dixie, your problems in the ratings wont go away just because Shawn retired. You guys should try doing what you did with the Nasty Boys for one thing and cut fat out of there ( The Band for example) and thats just one of your problems. Your a hot chick Dixie but you do have a lot to learn about running a wrestling show.

I always don't really care for ratings, and nor should any fans, but that is only me. Why should fans care what other fans are watching? That is just what the ratings prove. A fan should watch what they want despite what ratings say. A show could get cancelled because of low ratings? Sure, but what are you going to do about it? Watch that program with low ratings just so it won't go under? NO. You will still end up watching what you want DESPITE the ratings. Fans take ratings too seriously these days.

But I know enough that a .56 is no joke. That is pretty low lmao.

This. Ratings should not be used to gauge how much you enjoy a show.

Ratings matter because Nitro and Raw made them matter. If Spike starts bitching about low ratings that could spell the end of TNA and another dull wrestling scene with only one company.

Dixie Carter is really nice. I've met her twice at ppv events. She walked through the crowd on the floor after both shows and asked what we thought. The second time I caught towards the very end and had a chance to talk with her a few mins. First, she's beautiful. Second, I felt like she really cares about TNA and fans. I think her lack of wrestling experience may be affecting her better judgment.

Gotta agree with the lack of respect shown for HBK. I'm sure she was very embarrassed by those ratings and needed to 'vent' but tried to make it seem like she actually cared about HBK's career in an attempt to mask how much her company sucks.

If you think Dixie is beautiful, you have horrible taste in women. She reminds me of Vickie for some reason. Not her attitude but her looks, only her face doesn't sag as much as Vickie's and she isn't as fat. Maybe it's just me but I always think 'Vickie'.

You have it backwards. Ratings are effected by the fans not the other way around. There's a reason impact scored a .56, because fans would rather tune into the WWE.

Plus, ratings are important. They determine many things in this business, not the least of which is who is going to get pushed. You should care about the ratings because they directly impact your favorite wrestler or promotion.

Plus, we are smarks, thats what we are supposed to do, analyze ratings.
