You already paid off the bloodline angle with the previous run-ins and now it all came full circle with Roman choosing to callback to the Shield’s dissolution which was ultimately the catalyst for both his and Seth’s most recent success and he couldn’t see it and that is what cost him. His wounded pride and ego. Having Cody slay the tribal chief immediately after this is what clinches this moment and makes Cody’s run mean something. It’s especially important for Cody as well since his rise to this also started with Seth and Seth was the one who sacrificed himself for Cody to do it and end it.
