Last night's WWE SmackDown on Fox, which featured the opening night of the 2021 WWE Draft, averaged 2.12 million viewers according to the fast national ratings. That's up 1.6 percent from last week's overnight number but below the 10 week average.

Unlike most weeks, the viewership fell as the show went on. SmackDown averaged 2.167 million viewers in the opening hour and fell four percent to 2.073 million for the second hour.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown drew a 0.55 overnight rating, up 10 percent from last week. That rating also fell as the show went on, drawing a 0.6 in the first hour and a 0.5 in the second hour. SmackDown did top all of network television in the category.

As compared to the same week in 2020, SmackDown was up 3.8 percent in overall viewership. In 18-49, the rating this week was the same as last year's overnight number.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overnight viewership and 18-49 demo numbers for SmackDown, along with the 10-week averages prior to this week. Last night's show was down 4.3 percent in overall viewership and down 1.8 percent in the demo.

Heyman crying and being sent away by Roman made me think of that scene in Friday where Deebo makes Red cry by stealing his chain.

One issue i've had with SmackDown recently is the time and handling they're giving of their secondary womens feud. Hopefully they can start mixing them into the main feud and giving them more time because it'll suck to see Liv and Toni in particular fall by the wayside.

For sure, not to mention the usage of bitch yet again which sounded so unbelievably forced.

Random thoughts while watching this week's episode :

I don't know if it's the surgery or the bad makeup but Charlotte looks uglier every week.

Interesting drafts, Big E going to Raw and New Day to Smackdown was surprising. I thought they were going to keep them together to feud with Hurt Business. Drew on Smackdown means he's going to work with Reigns.

Kind of bored with Edge now, I wish he'd make some room for younger talents. Seth getting in his house was a good heat segment though.

Hit Row on Smackdown already? Feels like they've been on NXT for one month. And the girl is still extremely green in the ring. I don't see them going far on the main roster to be honest.

Roode deserves a lot better and I'll never forgive WWE for ruining him and Eric Young.

@Toni-Blaze You were bloody right about Theory :vincepoint

Friday night's WWE SmackDown averaged 2.252 million viewers on Fox, up 5.5 percent from the previous week. It's the best number the show has done since the September 10 episode from Madison Square Garden and is the third-best viewership for SmackDown since WWE's return to live touring.

In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown topped all of television with a 0.62 rating, just ahead of ABC's Most Magical Story, which drew a 0.61. That's up 12.7 percent from last week and also matches the third highest rating SmackDown has done since returning to touring.

Friday's show featured night one of the WWE Draft. The draft continues tonight on Raw.

SmackDown was also up in the 18-34 demo, finishing second on television with a 0.40 rating. That's up 25 percent from last week, when SmackDown actually led all of television. Most Magical Story came in first in 18-34 on Friday night.

Since they were all airing first-run programming, SmackDown finished last in terms of total viewership on the major broadcast networks.

As compared to this week last year, SmackDown was up 4.5 percent in overall viewers and up 3.3 percent in the 18-49 demo.

Listed below are the last 11 weeks of overall viewership and 18-49 numbers for SmackDown. This week's show was up 3.5 percent in viewers and up 5.1 percent in the demo.
