Jonathan Gresham walking out with the ROH title would be awesome but at least half the audience would obviously not know who he is lol

Would have to be a former WWE Superstar then you'd think? Who else would they even assume their audience would care about?
Depends on what company we think could be it. I mean :lol I have less faith it be an AEW guy. But we got Mox, Jericho, or Bryan who could be good. All of which would also probably be someone they use for docs that’s been talked about. Sucks Seth has a title match. Picture him in the Rumble and Mox comes out :bosque

An AEW guy would be insane, game changing shit. Even if it was one night. Plenty of big names anybody would recognise, even if they weren't a WWE guy. Like remember the pop Styles got.

I'm only considering an Impact guy right now because they are working with Mickie.

Like I said I really want MJF. Like idk how much of a reaction he get, but probably one of the people who wasn’t in WWE who get a decent reaction at least.

I think he'd get a good reaction. That Punk/MJF segment was making the rounds, and I feel like a decent amount of people know who he is even if they don't watch AEW much. Also, with WWE wanting to work with him. Just depends on how Tony and AEW would feel on him going over there for a night.

Oh I am sure Tony would be for it, since it adds elements to the storyline and everything. Like I know I’m dream booking here but gdi.

MORE VIA FIGHTFUL:

WWE made waves on Friday, when they announced tons of Royal Rumble surprises weeks before the show. Among those include Lita, Bella Twins, Kelly Kelly, Summer Rae, Michelle McCool and Mickie James.

WWE started reaching out to talent earlier than usual about appearing in the match. In recent years, they've contacted legends as soon as nine days out from the show to come in after not wrestling for years. However, we've heard that most that were contacted were under the impression that their participation wouldn't be announced ahead of time. We're told that this was done to help boost ticket sales and increase buzz for the show, and that there is "plenty of room for more surprises, and likely will be." Not everyone WWE contacted has committed to the match. We've also been told WWE will have backup names in mind.

WWE sources that we spoke to said that earlier on Friday, they hadn't been aware that the announcements would happen, then the late scripts included the names. An interesting note was that Mickie James name was preceded with "(?) Impact Knockouts Champion (?)" stylized like that. The word backstage at IMPACT Hard To Kill was that mentioning the IMPACT Title was a part of an agreement for the match, though we've not confirmed that with WWE or Mickie.

IMPACT was said to have been happy with the buzz, especially considering that they already had a Women's main event planned for their PPV.

As far as WWE is concerned, we've heard of pitches for "interesting" and "big" outside names, but have heard no context as to who they may be, or if they'll come to fruition.

Just further convincing me that Mickie only retained so Impact could have their belt on Peacock lol

So you're thinking they are going to let her make her entrance with the belt? That'd be pretty huge for Impact for the visual

I've fully convinced myself MJF is going to be in it now to further the storyline with Punk, it makes so much sense lol

You know he'd love to gloat about being in the Rumble too and getting all the interest from other promotions, that they wanted him to be in one of their biggest matches or some shit. I just think it'd be great if they could agree to it, and WWE can see how he works with their talent

Impact said if she won then she'd walk out with the belt at the rumble and as soon as they said it I knew deonna was losing lol

Damn, I can see why Impact kept it on her then. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose by letting Mickie be in the Rumble and get their title on one of the biggest events of the year, it's like such a good trade for them

Having MJF in the Rumble would do so little for the WWE in comparison as to what it would do for him and AEW, it's virtually a no go from the start.
