Meltzer seemed to think they were hoping for one to be able to use it for leverage for the sale or TV rights negotiations, looks like that should work out

Because of going commercial free, the first hour averaged 2.64 million viewers and drew a 0.80 in 18-49. It was actually among the biggest first-to-third hour drops in the history of the show, which sounds terrible, but given how big the numbers were, it's expected. It shouldn't be viewed negatively when you have a three-hour show and the first hour is commercial free that there is a big drop. And the third hour was still above two million viewers.

When you have one of the biggest drops from hour 1 to hour 3 but hour 3 is still higher than your total has been in years lol

I would imagine that old fans who don’t watch anymore tuned in special since it was the 30th anniversary

Yes but the demo doesn't include them so that being high means young people also tuned in, which also tends to he the case the last few years too so it tracks

I consider old to be over 49 myself but you can have your own definition
I didn’t mean old as in age. I meant old as in fans who don’t watch anymore. Meaning that a lot of fans who don’t watch the product anymore tuned in for this show.

Oh then yeah that's definitely what happened, doubt it was anyone new tuning in. Post Rumble number should be high too and that might theoretically be new fans if they just happened to watch the PPV on Peacock tho
