A longtime ticket broker and owner of ravetix.com, Silkin said his next long-term goal for ROH is running a live pay-per-view show. Silkin, though, knows the promotion needs to draw more casual fans beyond a hardcore base that rose from the ashes of Paul Heyman's Extreme Championship Wrestling. That's one of the reasons ROH has added Flair and fellow veterans Jerry Lynn (the new ROH champion) and D'Lo Brown to its talent mix.

"Our company was definitely brought up as an Internet-based company," Silkin said. "These fans are very loyal and very good to us, but you hit a wall. It's no different than with a band that's popular on the Internet. Only a finite number of people have seen it.

"We need to expand. We can't just cater to the Internet fan. We think we're doing a good job balancing that. We just want to keep Ring of Honor where it's not insulting, where there are compelling wrestlers and action that people are not going to see most of the time with the other companies."

I don't see why they've suddenly been so set on growing the past year really. They looked like they were going about it slowly, but suddenly they've tried to move with big steps at a time when unnecessary. They should have just looked at more new markets across the US before doing any of the TV stuff that they've been doing.

There's just one problem with Mr Silkin's plan.

ROH is NOT drawing in the casual fans, and what they're doing is alienating that hardcore fans that have been supporting ROH since the start.

Yeah, if you want ROH to be geared towards casual fans, you can't have a DVD based system. Casual fans don't buy DVD's and they certainly don't spend 20$ for something they've never seen before.

Another thing that pisses me off this morning.... how can you expect to attract new fans when your DVD subscriptions START at 120$$$. Seriously 6 DVDs for 120 is BS. The subscirption idea is great, its just grossly overpriced. They should be given the fans a discount if they lockin their purchse for upcoming shows. Plus their DVDs are getting shorter, with less action. Just very surprised they haven't dropped the price. I thought you would want your fans to subcribe.

On side note, Live PPV's are a good thing, as long as it won't break the bank. This way on the shows, they are actually build to something, or promote the show.

It's going to be hard for ROH to expand right now with anything they do. Even if they go to live PPV's or more promotion, WWE has just been amazing the past couple of months. Like it was said before, I don't think any casual/new fan would want to drop $20 for a DVD or ticket because they could see a product that's really good on TV for free. The wrestling in more ROH might be way better, but the drama and the entertainment that WWE has right now is too much.

Live PPV's could do nothing for ROH, I'd like to see less of a delay between the PPV's (I think I've been saying that for a really long time.) Maybe tape a Friday show for PPV, and debut it on Sunday. So if anything goes wrong, there'll be enough time to edit it while the product is still hot.
