I think we can all sit here all day, and make a big f'n list on who all in the wrestling world is self centered. Its wrestling haha, the greatest of all time have all been self centered, how else can you succeed in this business?

Anyway, this is an extremely good video package. One though that I've always liked was the Hulk Hogan vs Mcmahon video for Wrestlemania 19. Who ever made this video managed to capture the entire saga of these two wrestling giants all in a 3 or 4 minute video. Also, it showcases McMahon stabbing Hogan in the head with a pen, so thats pure gold in itself.

It does seem that threads I make have a tendency to get completely off topic and evolve into something completely away from their original focus.

So, what do you have to contribute to the topic at hand nou? :)

Not so much involving feuds, but I thought Steve Austin's Hall of Fame video package was done nicely.

You'll have to be more specific.

There is a lot of these to choose from. Of course, it didn't hurt the effectiveness of the video by having these two to work off of. The video packages sometimes just catalog what is already a great story, while others it brings attention to something and makes a lackluster feud look amazing.

This match is almost in the same vein as Austin/Rock, not for gold, just for pride.

Video packages make great feuds. I remember the old days when they used to use the music from Nightmare Before Christmas (can't recall a specific promo where it was used). This HBK/Taker promo is the best I've seen in years.

EDIT - Let's not forget the theatrical music!

I'm sure all of us saw this, and I'd like to give credit where credit is due.

Small little touches like this video package, I think, make a huge difference in story lines.

It takes us back through HBK's obsession with Taker, step by step and really showcases the build up for the feud beautifully.

Do you think video packages like these help to put that extra flourish on the story lines going on?

Do you think they are just filler to air during down times?

Are there any other situations where video packages like the one above really brought a little more emphasis to what was going on for you?

I think the video packages can be great but I also think they sometimes do come together as just a filler. Depends on how well the video is, I guess. If the video has a real great feel to it and has meaning/emotion (like the HBK/Taker vid), it's fantastic. It brings you up to speed with the entire situation and makes you even more interested in it because you see the history between the wrestlers and it doesn't feel like some shit they just threw together that you don't care about. It makes me want to see what the end result will be.

The one thing that does bug me sometimes is that they play these videos 6 billion times over.

I think this is a very under rated aspect of the wwe, as they are head and shoulders above everyone in this department. Awesome packages, and really one of my favorite parts to hyping a fued. The one on tonights raw was really good too. (with johnny cash i think)

This video gave me chills. I think that this storyline is incredibly underrated by most people. They have done a good job at pointing out the obvious stuff, but there are also SO many subtle things here that help build it.

First off, it's important to remember that Shawn originally took time off after Wrestlemania because he lost to the Undertaker. Kayfabe, chances are he would have stayed out if it wasn't for Triple H going to him and begging him for help. He sacrificed his pride for his best friend; it's important to note that Michaels never did anything EXCEPT team with HHH, and even then he was obviously only half into it. Hunter was the one doing the jokes and having fun with Hornswoggle, Michaels' heart was NEVER into it. He just did it out of duty. That all came full circle when the very obsession that put him out cost him the titles with the very man that he came back for.

Two of (if not THE two) defining moments in Michaels' career have been Degeneration X and his heat with Bret Hart. With the Hart stuff finally concluded, and his heart for DX having worn out, he came to realize that his career was coming to an end. He'd done it all - except the ONE thing that nearly made him hang up his boots last year. He's Mr. Wrestlemania, after all. When people think of Wrestlemania, they think of Shawn Michaels ... or the Undertaker. Coming to the end, he had to make sure that people only thought of ONE man come Wrestlemania time.

It's just absolutely terrific storytelling and incredible character development for Shawn. This would have just been another great match, but the fact that Shawn's career is on the line both raises the anticipation and adds the final piece to this story.

And, just for kicks, I love that Michaels caused Taker to lose the title to Chris Jericho. If Michaels hates anybody in the WWE, it's probably Chris Jericho. Didn't matter. He's so obsessed with getting Taker at Wrestlemania that he's willing to let down his friend and help his worst enemy. Brilliant.

I can't fucking wait for this match, personally. These are two of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I'm more emotionally invested in this match than I have been for any match since probably Rock vs Hogan, or possibly further back to Hogan vs Warrior. Yeah, I went there. I'm so fucking stoked. I never feel the magic in wrestling anymore, and I totally feel it here.

I feel it would add a complete different element if Shawn was to bring up the fact that Undertaker almost ENDED HIS FUCKING CAREER. Put him out for 5 damn years, how/why has this not been brought up yet? Initially, I wanted him to just admit that's the sole reason he's so obsessed, but all of the elements all play out nice as stated above. He feels his career is over to and is coming to an end, and I guess that should be the sole reason, definitely.
