DISCUSSION #1 - If John Cena "did a Benoit" tomorrow, how would WWE survive?

Like, seriously. The guy has been WWE the last 7/8 years so its not as if they can play pretend and wipe his face out of matches. He's also their top guy where Benoit was an expendable bit-part player by the time he went all roid rage.

Try and give me an answer that doesnt involve "WTF GUY THIS WILL NEVAR HAPPAN SHIT THRED OP", please.

They'd make a new Cena. Everyone acts like WWE can't make new guys they can they just don't. They like the guys they have at the top those guys are still making them plenty of money. Yeah fans bitch they get into tight spots but it's fairly easy for them to give a new guy an angle that makes them a top dog.

Cena dies or does a benoit (great way to pose this). Have Ziggler or the Miz or some guy we've never heard of face a guy like Rock Taker HHH and win. Do an angle where the old guys say it was a fluke then the guy wins again and again to the point where whoever he's faced is like wow this guys got it. Or you could Goldberg them.

How do you think they would cope with all the bad publicity?

It was bad enough with Benoit, but would be tenfold with Cena.

Depends on what caused it are you saying exact scenario. Cause I don't think you'd see much difference in the way it's handled though it would be worse yes but your solid core of fans would stay their isn't an alternative. Basically I think it'd cause them to go back to the type of company they were in the 90s the red headed step child of entertainment.

I'd like to think they'd handle it exactly the same way as they did the Benoit scenario but given how he's been the posterboy for years now and had literally everything focused around him, it would be near impossible to write him from history given his achievements.

Now onto this. Personally I don't believe they could just make another Cena as easily you make it out because if they COULD make more John Cena's, why would you not want several of them at your disposal at any given style, attitude era style? It's a risky business and all it could take is one bit of miscommunication and he could be out for an extended period of time, just look at Jesse Sorensen.

It is truly isn't that easy just to make another Cena like that. You can make a guy run through the Rock whoever all you want but at the end of the day the fans have to fully buy into it, the sponsors and things of that nature have to be able to get behind it too. Cena wasn't made a big star overnight so you can't make another one of him overnight either. However good thing for them they kind of have that guy in CM Punk who has gotten some mainstream attention who can handle being the poster boy and all that good stuff so they wouldn't have to spend much effort into making Punk bigger as opposed to starting from scratch with somebody.

But as for if this happened it would take a long time for WWE to fully rebound from this because of how big Cena is and how much he has been branded a great guy. Benoit was known as a great guy too but Cena has pretty much been built in the public eye as one of the nicest guys ever with the stuff he does so it would be very awkward from that standpoint and then take into account his fanbase and how they could possible lose a good chunk of their fanbase because of it. WWE would get through it in due time but it would be very hard to deal with.

if cena were to pull a benoit they might cancel a few shows then the show would go on like it always does.they would eventually elevate a few guys and blamo 1 year down the road we wont talk about cena.
