That is a common trend in wrestling these days. It's not good unless it's got some truth or a shoot.
I'm not saying it would be bad if two straight wrestlers did it, it would just mean more. Really though, any sexual based story lines wouldn't hold up as well today as they did in the late 90's and early 2000's because the shock factor wouldn't be there. They can't do what they used to. Thanks to social media and the internet, most fans know if these wrestlers are dating someone or are married in real life so that kind of takes away from it.

And I know it is no different from watching a regular TV show. You don't actually believe John and Jenny are dating because they are just actors portraying a story line but wrestling will never be entirely the same as a sitcom or a drama series on TV. The element of realism and having these wrestlers show part of who they are in real life helps story lines have more depth.

I think what makes professional wrestling interesting is that the two worlds of kayfabe and the real world reflect each other. When the two worlds blend together then it makes it easier for fans to get invested. Like the Punk pipebomb or that Triple H promo about the curtain call. I totally get what you mean. I think maybe that could be creatively restricting

So...Sonya Deville starts to go all "Single White Female"
with Mandy Rose?

Becky changes her nickname to the "Irish Lass Licker"?

Sasha starts using Bayley butt as a pillow?

Just throwing some ideas at the wall...

Sasha is literally a tsundere if they make this into a lovey dovey angle. Stephanie did claim a few years ago WWE would "use LGBT characters" at some point, and considering the word "characters" rather than "performers", it's plausible they'd book straight wrestlers as gay and whatnot to do just that. It's not like it's revolutionary for straight people to portray gay characters. Even so, I doubt WWE is going with the gay character route and that the "I love you" scene was just weird writing and weird delivery. We know WWE's track record with romance angles, so for the sake of these women not being written worse than they already are, I'd veto the relationship. Because I'm a degenerate goddamn weeaboo that likes the tsundere trope, I can see how the relationship could develop, but it's just better for the parties involved not to go down that route.

The future will be Bayley and Sasha embracing each others differences by being part of a tag team. Maybe they will be the inaugural woman's tag champions.
I can see this happening 100%. The only problem is that it implies that WWE actually is capable of planning something for these women, which I personally am rather skeptical of. Lord knows WWE doesn't have the roster size needed to make a functional women's tag division even if the women weren't divided between two different rosters. They need a much larger women's roster before considering such titles, and I don't think they're just gonna spring twenty new women on us all of a sudden then proclaim new titles. The brand split really hurt the tag and women's divisions.

If they do make 'em gayer than the frogs in my backyard, I propose their tag team become known as "The Lesbian Pedestrians" to just go all-in on the gayness.

*Checks definition*

Yeah...that fits.

That's my word of the day. Nice work M.U.G

I originally read/heard that Becky was actually going
to be given this story/angle/character trait...mainly
because she is one of the most experienced women
on the roster...and has an acting background.

Of course it never happened...but it still may.

Yeah...its pretty much Cringe City 100% of the time.

Ha! Weeaboo!

Look...lets be real here...the entire women's division is broken...
and it has been for a long time.

Realistically the entire women's division should have been left
on RAW during the brand split with a mid-card/TV title & a set
of tag titles being introduced then.

BUT...

They split the division and while some have benefited (Well...
Alexa Bliss did) its mostly been a complete mess despite the
odd moment of awesome.

The women's division needs to be consolidated on RAW, a
few of the ladies need to be drafted back to NXT & the WWE
needs to give someone besides Alexa & Charlotte a chance
to shine at the top...and I don't just mean Ronda Rousey.

Once all the ladies are on RAW...introduce a women's mid-card
title (perhaps with a special stipulation...like say it has to be defended
every week) & a set of tag titles to start rebuilding the division with some
structure & a clear pecking order.

If they do make 'em gayer than the frogs in my backyard, I propose their tag team become known as "The Lesbian Pedestrians" to just go all-in on the gayness.
I was going to suggest the "Dom & Sub Connection" but that's too easy.

And...the frogs in your backyard are gay?

How do you know that?

I think it's too much to add both a midcard title and tag titles given the roster size and the amount of championships that are already on programming. Having fewer championships makes being champion more meaningful.

I think a woman's tag division is inevitable.

I don't know how many people you need for a tag division. I don't think loads of new faces are needed. If you are not in the title picture then you are not doing anything. We haven't seen Naomi for weeks. So yeah, I don't think the roster size is a problem, considering the amount of underutilized talent.

Just bring back the Bella Twins and you are sorter.

Right...is that an Alex Jones joke?

True...but the way the WWE books itself...hardly
anyone outside of their "Chosen Few" would have
a chance to actually hold a title...and I'm of the belief
that the title holder can make the championship meaningful.

See Seth Rollins with the Intercontinental title, the Usos
with the SDL tag titles & A.J Styles with the U.S title...

Its one of the main reasons I can't stand Carmella...

The SDL Women's title is worth about the same as a
puddle of urine while she has it...but put it on Becky,
Asuka or Charlotte...immediately it becomes more
important.

Any idea or championship can work...it just depends on
how the WWE books it...and most of the time..the booking
kills whatever good idea they have.

I think there are enough women now to have proper feuds
over a set of tag titles...& a set of tag titles would give some
kind of meaning to the countless & pointless amount of tag
matches the women are booked in.

I did "fantasy book" how I would handle a set of women's
tag titles in a past thread...and I can't be bothered retyping
it here...but again...it could work & give the women besides
Alexa & Charlotte a chance to be a champion & actually be
involved in a secondary feud.

+++

Yeah...where did Naomi & the Usos go?

The Usos were in career best form & just seemed to disappear
after Wrestlemania.

Also...its clear the main roster has no need of Asuka anymore...
her streak was broken & then she was jobbed out to Carmella
in pathetic, cliche fashion...and now...she's not even on the
SummerSlam card.

Ugh...
