How is it? Heard it's fantastic albeit short
Its not short. It depends on what you want to do. If you're looking for a story, please don't expect to go from A to O to Z in 4 hours. Expect to do it in 10 hours. Especially in your first try. I spent 25 hours in-game time playing the game, trying to find items. Its an open world 2D game with 3D graphics.
There IS story, but Metroid Dread takes place in between two games.
Metroid is broken this way:
- Metroid (Zero Mission)
- Metroid II (Samus Returns)
- Metroid Fusion
-
Metroid Dread
- Super Metroid
So, again don't expect anything from Metroid Dread when it comes to story.
Go in there, SAVOR the gameplay, because that's the soul of Metroid.
If you love Metroidvania games like the following...
- Any of the Metroid games listed above.
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and similar sequels
- Dead Cells (Awesome game, BTW)
- Strider (2014)
- Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
- Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Batman: Arkham City
I've never played any of these games, but they're recommended...
- Ori & The Will of the Wisp
- Ori & The Blind Forest
- Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
- Salt & Sanctuary
- Shadow Complex
- Blasphemous
- Axiom Verge (And sequel)
- Hollow Knight (And DLC's)
- F.I.S.T.
- Blaster Master, and Blaster Master Zero series
- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Most of these games are inspired by Metroid and Castlevania, hence "Metroidvania."
