The promos to me were the only good things that went on tonight. All the matches were short, from the time the bell rang, the matches didn't go over 2minutes. Cena/JBL/HBK had more time than the matches. Vince had more time than the matches, hell the Royal Rumble package had more time than the matches. The only match that went over that was the Punk/Regal match, and that was just a no selling match throughout the whole thing.

I didn't like the whole HBK/JBL storyline at 1st but that's getting a whole lot better, that was a good promo by them. The ending segment was great as well, they're making that Punt something serious. It's about time they cash in on Cryme Tymes popularity, and the "....and our boy Barrack Obama gets swore in" and Morrison say's "I'm rebublican" and gets a "that's too bad for you" pretty funny to me. But besides all that, wasn't a good show to me.

^@Jurassic.............were you watching the same show?

The reason the show was so incredible had nothing to do with the matches. Even the matches were great IMO...straight to the fuckin point.

OH SHIT WE'VE BEEN PUSHING KELLY TOO MUCH AND OUR WOMEN'S CHAMP HAS A MATCH NEXT WEEK.......SQUASH!

3 times a charm...home town...Punk pulls it out. Solid workhorse fuckin match. Stiff kicks and blows everywhere. These guys worked their asses off.

OH SHIT WE'VE GOT NO TAG DIVISION. Bam...number one contenders.

But as I said. The promos and the furthering..(futher..ment?) of the story lines was absolutely mind blowing. They covered more ground tonight then they did in most of 2008.

Even the Goldust and Cody (brother to brother) segment was pretty good. They made it shoot and not "kayfabe" which I was surprised at. When Goldust showed up on camera, I was expecting some goofy segment, but instead saw a shoot-like moment. Pretty good. That may lead to a brother vs brother match, with "Duthty" :)lol:) being a referee or something. Goldust isn't the greatest wrestler, but if they relied on storyline, could be alright.

^^^Dunno what makes you say that... Dustin can hold his own in a match.

In fact it's pretty safe to say he's better in the ring than Cody at this point in time.

Last night's show did what it was supposed to do.. Push the PPV. With the closing segment, it gives people more reason to buy the Rumble (In order to see what happens to Orton), as noumenon mentioned, it helped push the women's title match, while at the same time continuing with the Rosa Perez angle.

They contract signing was very good, and all three men involved deserve their props.

Punk vs Regal was the match of the night, and it gave the fans something to cheer about when Punk won the title.

No, it wasn't the most wrestling heavy show we've ever seen, but it did what it was supposed to do, and that's make the upcoming PPV seem like a big deal and (for some) a must buy show.

Well i thought it was a pretty good show all in all Matches were short but were good matches. Punk/Regal match owned. Some good solid wrestling and some good stiff shots they worked a good match.
I agree with others it did what it was supposed to do and that was to hype the ppv and they did that well. Fave parts were the contract signing some really good promo/mic work from all three. And the end segment rocked. At first i thought typical Heel Vince/Steph job. But WOW did that change quick wicked IMO. Randy was awesome he just plays a Sadistic Heel so good. Plus there could be loads of avenues for this storyline to go. sum it up good pre PPV Raw IMO.

Haven't seen the last segement yet, but a few comments...

Santino: "Pleeeeeeease.... Can we keep her?" LOL x LOL x LOL

Rey v Knox was pretty damn forgettable... Hopefully that's the end of that angle.

Goddamn the add break during the Punk & Regal match - Looks like we missed some real baddass ref-can't-break-the-hold submissions. As for that kinda hiptoss/suplex thing that Regal did... THAT's why Regal's the proverbial man!

That looked like it would hurt imo but Punk seemed fine.

^^^Yeah, the bump he took reminded me of when Sabu broke his neck in ECW... Testament to both their abilities that he didn't half-cripple Punk.

It was just the way he landed and in the replay seeing it over and over again, I thought, 'Shit.' but obviously he's fine. There haven't been any reports.. that I'm aware of.

Well I saw it yesterday, so I guess I should give some thoughts.

- The end segment was good, though it would have been better if Orton looked remorseless. The 'Oh no I kicked the boss!" reaction he gacve afterwards kinda wrecked it. It would have been much more awesome if Orton had looked like a dick. With that said, the kick looked pretty stiff.

- The Rumble hype was mediocre. The contract signing was good, and we had the opening Battle Royal, but apart from that, all we got was the same old video package (that I can remember). Sure it is THE Rumble (wehich basically means instant buyrates), but I would have thought that they'd go into some more hype here. I don't think the Orton thing sells the Rumble, because when it happened, I didn't think about the Rumble. I thought about what'd happen to him next week on RAW.

- Kane is suddenly a tweener/face for absolutely no reason. Why was he left with the three members of The Legacy if he's heel? I know he got screwed last week and he's been after Orton, but Orton's a heel, so this just seems stupid. It looks like they've turned Kane by having him looking like he wants to rape Kelly Kelly. Apparently rape is a good thing.

- Punk vs Regal was decent. I was happy to see Punk win, though aside from that, the midcard seemed very bland. The fact that the only midcard match I can remember is Punk vs Regal shows me how much I was uninterested by the rest of it.

- Santino was epic. "Can we keep her?" I laughed so hard at that. Best comedy character ever.

The angle at the end was alright, but it missed a bit in the middle, imo.

PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I really enjoyed this weeks show. As many have said, it did what it was supposed to do, and build the Rumble. Everything seemed to go really great until the end (which I may be overreacting to until I see the outcome after the Rumble and whatnot), but it was a solid show. I really hope this keeps up.
