The Tour De France is pretty boring in the first place. I think everyone in such a sport should be allowed to dope up and it was actually pretty interesting during the years of 1999-2005. They should get back to that.

I still respect all the work Armstrong did for his Cancer research though.

Hardly the point through is it. I am no fan of cycling and have no interest in the TDF but that doesn't mean that I still don't want people to race fairly.

Also what does his chrity work have to do with anything? The two are totally seprate, just because you do a lot for chrity it doesn't give you a free pass to cheat.

I was just saying the sport was a lot more interesting when people were freely using these performance enhancing drugs behind the scenes. Despite what people say the late '90s in Baseball was actually pretty awesome to watch.

I wasn't relating the sport to his charity work either.

PEDs doesn't magically make someone better at their sport than a regular person. I could take all the stuff he was taking and never do 10% of what he accomplished. Could those other guys beat him if they were taking PEDs? I don't think so, this is basically Ben Johnson syndrome, where a sport is full of guys who are taking something to gain a edge on their competition and the sport grew because of it. Then the same sport turns their back on the stars who made their sport. Lance Armstrong wasn't the only guy taking something, and neither was Ben Johnson, the only thing that really taints Armstrong is the way he handled accusations, and now he will probably have to pay a shitload of court cases in the near future.

As for what he did for Cancer research, he raised alot of money and that shouldn't be forgotten. He did major things with his spotlight and him being a so-called cheat doesn't make him some kind of monster.

That was the ONLY time baseball was worth watching. Players weren't just "mailing it in" for a paycheck like they are nowadays.

Watched both confessions and they didn't surprise me. Was just a massive PR exercise. When it was announced that he would tell all to the softest interviewer of all time Oprah you knew that it would just be a fluff piece with him looking for sympathy. Were terrible interviews because Oprah clearly doesn't know much about cycling, or about giving a hard hitting interview, didn't follow up on so many questions that should have been asked.

The guy ruined thousands of lives and scammed hundreds of millions of dollars from individuals and companies, looking forward to him having to pay it all back and even spending some time in jail for perjury. I like that he even tried to bribe the government with $5 million and they rejected it. The guy is delusional and it would be best for the sport if they just ignore the guy and don't mention his name again.

Not sure how anyone can say that the Tour was more exciting in 99-05 than it is now. Back then you knew who would win before the Tour started so there was no real intrigue, now it is never clear who will win and there is a good group of cyclists battling it out each year.
