I would like to see a Punk face turn just to see how they would do it because it would have to take some great creativity from the creative department to give him some credibility as a face but I do love his heel gimmick and it make for some excellent TV.

I'm starting to turn towards CM Punk dispite the fact I am a rabid psychedelic user.

Maybe he is injured cause even his Wm 26 match with Rey was short plus he has not really wrestled that much lately.
Other way around.

Seriously, Punk should stay heel for a long, long time. And it's sad they compromised his brilliant character and gave Swagger the title when it is the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger on Punk's new evolution and give him the belt.

He was face for close to two years already lol. As much as I love Punk and I do think that potentially he could be a good face his future is as a heel plain and simple. His militant Straight Edge character is one of the best of the last 10 years. Honestly it could have been the perfect time to give him another World Title run. I think this time with the SES he could potentailly be the dominant heel to dominante Smackdown for an extended period of time, much like Edge is a past life.

Edge's face run is showing how easy it is to be the dominant heel when you're giving more bread then the other survivors. CM Punk has a cool gimmick with mic time and and interesting dialogue mostly every week. What does anyone else get? Seems to me there using heels to build the next big superstars. Though the results vary Cena/edge/punk?_?

Rosters thin there;s no direction with storylines nowadays it seems to me like they go show to show with no long term development
how to build superstarz in 5 steps

1. Introduce superstar as babyface or cocky heel
2. three months later build them up as a heel give them unique storyline, see if the fans pay attention
3. face turn
3. Title feud
4. ????
5. Enjoy superstar

Yes, but they didn't have to change the audience's perception of him, I would like to see if they kept the whole straight edge gimmick because I doubt he could get over as a face with that same gimmick. Btw this thread was supposed to be could CM Punk be a face in the future.

Of course CM Punk could be face again with the same gimmick. It's not the fact that he's straightedge that makes him heel, it's his preachy attitude and his mocking of Jesus.

Take Kane vs. Khali @ Wrestlemania 23 as a similar example. Kane was the face and during his entrance there was a giant burning pentagram and the LED screens were displaying 666. Here's the vid if you don't believe me.

CM Punk could no doubt get over as a face, and I think do pretty well as one. It's just the militant straight edge gimmick that creates so much heat. Not the straight edge itself. Some of his face ECW promos about straight edge weren't half bad imo.

^^^Eminem looks unhealthy in your gif.

I watched a History channel program called Gangland that profiled Straight Edge followers in Boston. They started out with good intentions but they would raid a bar and start beating innocent patrons because they don't drink alcohol. That's more like intolerant facism than a way of life...and that's what makes CM Punk THE heel in WWE. Much better than Triple H ever was. His promos were about his greatness, and say I'm great because I'm the game, or how "personal" his feud was or how badly he wanted his title...AGAIN. People hated him because he was boring.

The FBI classifies that Boston crew as a gang. I'm pretty sure they were selling guns to street gangs in exchange for drugs, to get the drugs off the street. They were some of the people I was talking about in my earlier post in this thread, they were vicious to anyone who was drinking at shows. They would go to concerts of bands they hated just to beat up drinkers & drug users. After hearing about these guys I bet that Ian Mackaye (of Minor Threat & Fugazi) probably wishes he never wrote the song "Straight Edge". The movement didn't exist until Minor Threat released the song.

CM Punk can easily be a face again. He's done the same gimmick his entire career, switching from heel/face with ease. He could just start taking a straight edge stance completely against his opponents, rather than including the crowd, and it would start to stop the heat he's been getting.

I went to a live show last night and a fan jumped the railing and tried to attack punk. Luckily Tony Chimel was able to stop him with help from security.

I'm going to a Supershow taping in May, and I plan on buying a drink just to throw at him I can get close enough (to add to his heat...thus helping him). Maybe I can start a chain reaction of drink throwers.
