Advance report. A surprise on Saturday, with Real Madrid losing 1-0 to Granada in the last match of the evening. Cristiano Ronaldo got the only goal, but for once it was in his own net, the Portuguese super-star heading Nolito's corner back past his own keeper Diego López midway through the first half. It was a great result for new coach Lucas Alcaraz, and the players and crowd celebrated the result as if they had won the cup! The Andalusians had started the game down in the bottom three after Osasuna beat Celta 1-0 earlier in the evening, Armenteros getting the only goal for the Pamplona based side soon after the restart. However Celta now find themselves in the relegation spots after Granada's win, and they join fellow Galicians Deportivo, who lost 3-1 at Getafe. Domingos Paciencia's side seemed to be on track for a much needed win when Pizzi converted an early penalty after Moyà was sent off for tripping up Riki. However Diego Costa made it all square with a second penalty, and after Aguilar was also red carded, late strikes by Alvaro Vázquez and Colunga gave the locals their first win in eight games. Espanyol are now five points clear of the drop zone after they beat Levante 3-2, their fourth home win in a row. Iborra put through his own net shortly before half time, and although Rubén headed the equaliser after the break, two goals in as many minutes by Stuani and Sergio García put the Catalans back in front. Even so it was a close call as Martins got one back near the end, and Colotto had to clear a Michel header off the line in injury time. The weekend began with the Friday night match between Valladolid and Athletic Bilbao, the Basque side coming back from two down to draw 2-2 in the end. Early strikes by Javi Guerra and Alberto Bueno gave Djukic's team a good start, but De Marcos got one back before the interval and Susaeta levelled the scores five minutes after the restart. A surprise? Real Madrid have been disgustingly poor this year, I called us losing.
