Kurt Angle just called into TMZ Live to announce he suffered a torn hamstring earlier today while training for the Olympics and it may put his Olympic hopes in major jeopardy.

Angle said he would be undergoing an MRI tomorrow morning to determine the severity but described the injury as a "tear."

Sucks for him, especially if it means he misses out on his hopes of competing at the Olympics this year. But most of all, it'll suck for TNA and his feud with Jeff Hardy. I'd imagine if it's confirmed as a torn hamstring, they'll do some angle to get Jeff a new opponent for Lockdown.

Shame, I don't think he was going to do great over in the Olympics anyway at his age compared to some of the other competitors.

Possible copout as cheflsdafjo said, bit of a shame, the only reason I'd watch wrestling at the Olympics would be if Kurt Angle was competing.

I reckon if he can win a gold medal with a broken freakin neck he can win a gold medal with a torn freakin hamstring.

Angle called TMZ personally? Does he have them on speed dial or something? If he did something like that I can't see it past being some sort of stunt to build himself up more for the Olympics when it looked like he couldn't even pass their clearance tests. Angle will do anything to stay relevant. I can't wait for what insanity he comes up with next.

I doubt that he actually suffered an injury. The injury is a nice excuse because now he can't lose since he won't be appearing at the trials. He was never going to make it and this saves him some embarrassment.

Kurt Angle wrote the following on his Twitter account, announcing that he has withdrawn from the Olympic trials:
"Due to Hamstring@Knee Injuries, I'm forced to Pull Out of trials.Had a talk W/ Usa Wrestling Coach Zeke Jones Who has Supported Me all Year. I trained Extremely hard for a full Year. I'm Very Disappointed. I want to thank All the fans for Ur Support. U Motivated Me. I Must focus On TNA and Lockdown Ppv, Which Has Always Been My 1st Priority. I Hope to Be Able to Put On the Best Performance I Can. TNA Has Supported My Olympic Dream Since the Day I Approached Dixie Carter about My Quest for Gold! Thank You. I injured My MCL in My Knee. The Doctors Say It's a partial tear which will take 4-6 Months w/ rehab. I Will have It Heavily Protected at Lockdown. I've Had Prior Knee Injuries More Serious than this @ Still Won Ncaa's but I Must Put My Job in Tna 1st. Again, thank You all for Ur Support. Your Prayers and Support Have motivated Me to Put On the Best Performance I Can at Lockdown, Considering My injuries. As Zeke Jones told Me, We Were Hoping that Father time Would Hold Off Until After London Olympics. Unfortunately It Hit Me Hard 1 Month Prior to Olympic trials. Thank You to All My training Partners,Especially Edinboro Univ Wrestlers and Coach Tim Flynn and Tony Dipietro. Training for Gold and Wrestling for #ImpactWrestling at the Same time took it's toll. I'm Still Proud that I Went 4 It at age 43. Thx to All the fans Who Supported Me! I Will Heal and focus On What I Do Best and that's Perform for all Of You. GOD Bless! For More Info on My Condition and Other Updates, go to @HootHawk Who Is My trainer and Manager. Thk You All for Your Kind Comments @ Support"

Everyone knew that he was never going to even attend the trials. He was going to get humiliated there because he is too old, he has been out of it for too long and he has too many injuries and other mental issues. Plus how he would have passed the drug test I do not know. Good to see that he is going to focus on the job that pays him a wage rather than an impossible dream. He already has one gold medal he should have come back as a coach to train a young up and coming Olympic wrestler and it would have been a better story.
