ProWrestling.net reports that Sho Funaki has been pushing the idea of the Kung Fu Naki character for a few years. He has been showing up at TV tapings with the same sheet of paper that contained his ideas for the character for quite some time. While the creative team may have altered the character, the original idea belongs to Funaki. Vince McMahon used to roll his eyes whenever the character was presented to him, but obviously something changed. Vince has a notoriously bad memory and one source says it’s possible that Vince doesn’t even remember the character being pitched to him before.

Lena Yada has issued a statement regarding her recent release from World Wrestling Entertainment. As it turns out, she was in the hospital visiting her sick father when she was informed of her dismissal from the company two Mondays ago. The WWE site a did a story on her father this past year, who is currently suffering from sarcoidosis, an immune system disorder that manifests as a restrictive disease in the lungs. Her father was sick this time a year ago as well, and almost prevented her from accepting WWE's contract offer because she'd have to go on the road. Yada admits to seeing her release from the company coming. It's still up in the air whether she'll continue her career in professional wrestling. Yada posted the message at the www.Unique-Divas.com forum. Yada registered on the site when she was involved in the Diva Search contest last year, and would occasionally post during her time in WWE. Here is her message in its entirety:

So I guess its time i made a statement :)

I got a call monday morning when i was at the hospital with dad. Kinda knew it was coming to be honest. Am I sad? Yes. Will I move on? Yes. If i will continue to train or seek another outlet is still up in the air.

There are many rumors circulating in the system about the reason for my release. Only Vince himself will know. I've had a very fulfilling time so far with WWE. Could i have gone further? I believe yes. BUT! we all have to remember that it is a business at the end of the day. The door is still open for a possible return in the future though so let's just wait and see shall we? ;-)

When darkness surrounds, it is only opportunity for the light to shine even brighter :)

Never give up on your dreams. Life is filled with disappointment and will challenge you constantly, but it is what you do in the aftermath that defines you as a person.

Love and Aloha,
Lena

lol, Lena has no future in Wrestling imo. She should do modeling or something.

And as for Kung Fu Naki, I'm happy Vinnie Mac finally gave the OK for the gimmick. Its working, the guy gets a little pop when his music hits and people are starting to care about him. I hope he doesn't turn into another jobber though

I don't like Funaki, but that's just bias because he's beating MVP as of late. I do feel good for the guy as finally he got heard by creative and it shows that the character was sort of a good idea.

Anyone else think Funkai owes a word of thanks to Kung-Fu Panda?

I read somewhere that Miz & Morrison were training Lena to wrestle...=/ You're probably right about her not having much of a future in wrestling though.

He's actually always gotten a little pop even when he was a jobber. But he's still a jobber he's just kinda in the right place, right time due to MVP's burial. He'll sadly lose to everyone else he faces. =/
