Deadline reports that Sony is in talks with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) for an adatation of the video game Metal Gear Solid. The film is being produced by Avi Arad and production president Michael De Luca.
The reason the film has taken so long to finally be made into a film is that Sony and and the creators of the game have had problems agreeing with how to tell the story. The game was created by Hideo Kojima (with the first entry in the Metal Gear Solid series debuting on the Playstation in 1998) and follows Solid Snake, a solider who sneaks into a nuclear weapons facility to stop a terrorist threat from Foxhound, a special forces unit. He has to safe two hostages (including the president of a major arms manufacturer) and stop the terrorists from launching a nuclear strike.

A MGS movie is long overdue, very different film to Kings obviously but I loved that film and the first games plot is fantastic so I'm optimistic.
