Ok, dont get me wrong, I like Kennedy, and I like that hes getting pushed and all, but Im beggining to think his mic skills are overrated.
Seriously, he doesnt really do interviews, so his only mic time is promos and his ring entrance. His promos with Regal were good, but it was more the attitude he had that made them good, and the fact that I hated Regal, but they were nothing extraordinary.
And his ring entrance suck ass IMO. Honestly, for a guy with that persona, he should be coming out there, trash talking his opponent when he has his mic, embellishing about himself, and then doin gthe big Mr.Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thing. Make it interesting But now, he just randomly says "I weigh in tonight at 240 pounds, from wisconsin, Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
And its getting pretty damn old.

If I remember right, when he was on Smackdown, and when he was sorta new, he was way more in your face, insulted his opponents (wheter they were good or bad), kicked the ring anouncer out and all that, he made it entertaining....
Now its just same old, same old...

It seems that since hes came to Raw, hes gone downhill.

-So what is this? Is his mic skills (or lack thereof) because of WWE telling him not to do that whole thing with the insults, brags and all that, or is it because he just simply chooses not to do it, and doesnt feel the need to?

-And secondly,do you agree his mic skills are overrated?

We were just talking about this, Mike and here are my thoughts on Mr. Kennedy’s mic skills.

When he was on SmackDown, Mr. Kennedy was more in your face by insulting his opponents whether they were good or bad and chasing the ring announcer out of the ring. It was very entertaining to say the least for me. But now that he’s on Raw (and a face) he doesn’t do anything like that anymore. As you mentioned, he just comes out says how much he weighs and then does his usual name announcement. It’s all getting old to me as well and I think he’s been going downhill since coming to Raw.

As for your questions, I’m not sure why he doesn’t do it anymore. Maybe the company doesn’t want him to do it because he’s a face or maybe he feels the need to not do it anymore. I’m not sure but he really should go back to doing what he used to do on SmackDown because it was so much entertaining then him just coming out and announcing himself. It all seems kind of pointless now.

And I agree that his mic skills are overrated. He doesn’t do interviews and the only mic time he does get is with in-ring promos and his entrance where he, IMO, is just generally boring on the microphone. I’ve lost interest in Kennedy a whole lot since he moved to Raw. He just seems so dull right now but that’s just my opinion on him.

Just one thing, you are saying Kennedy's mic skills are overrated because he just talks before his match and not during interviews.

Well, that is not his fault. It is not like he goes and tells booking he doesnt want to make interviews. It is booking's decision, and when he does talks, he delivers. Or don't you remember his interviews bashing HBK? He just needs more time to speak, but because he doesn't get it, it doesn't mean he is overrated

I never said that. I said that thats one of the examples, as in meaning thats one of the reasons he doesnt get to showcase it.
I was showing both sides of the story.
One possibility lke wwe not letting him (example: him not having interviews)
And the one of him just not having the skilles (exampe: his promos before his match)
I was just showing both sides, and also stating my opinion, which is that his mic skills have really gone downhill as of late, and then at the end, asking the question for your opinions.

I wouldn't say that they're overrated, it's just his mic skills are better then who's on RAW now. RAW doesn't have much of a midcard anyways. But his skills have gone down, it's just him coming out talking, there's not much of anything else.

I agree with CMS on this one, it's not Kennedy's fault that he doesn't get interview/promo time. When he does get a little promo here or there he does what he can do with that little time to get the most from that opportunity. In my opinion he's one of the most natural guys on the mic today...it doesn't come across as if he's trying to hard, it's just like he's being himself. He's like a new-version of Steve Austin, he won't kiss the crowds ass and he'll run-down his opponent wheter it's a John Cena (Face) or a William Regal (Heel) and not give to shits what the crowd thinks or how they react.

Its called RAW booking, once someone goes to RAW they get stale and boring. They need to constantly be giving him new things to do once in a while or he will get stale, actually he is getting stale, by the time they give him a title push nobody is gonna care. His mic skills are good just they giving him the same shit over and over aka John Cena effect.

No, im not saying his mic skills are overrated because he doesnt get promos. Im just saying that when he does, all he does is that "Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, kennedyyyyyyyyyyy, kennedyyyyyyyyyy, about 3 times, after some crappy speech.
All Im saying is that his stuff hat he says before the matches, and on the few promos he gets, have gone downhill, and I dont know if its wwe telling him not to say alot of stuff, or him just not being creative, and going stale.

BTW, about your thing of the next Austin, no way! lol
I used to think that, but basically, I wish he would run down his opponents, and insult them (wheter their good or bad) and just act like he doesnt give a shit, and he used to... But now, it just seems like hes either not using all the mic skills he has (by not saying much, and just going with the same lines all the time) or his mic skills arent as good as we thought...
Cause Kennedy used to have some of the most crative entrance speeches, kicking the ring announcer out, insulting opponents, putting himself over, etc, but it just seems like now, its just the same repetitive stuff,a nd serves no purpose, cause what he says on the mic is always the same.
Just my opinion though.

Meh, he just showed what he can do when he insulted William Regal. He did the same on his promo on Ric Flair, he delivered on his short promo with Kardashian on WM 24. To me, it seems that when WWE gives him the chance to talk more, he shows his talent.

As for what you say MikeRaw, I think it's WWE not giving him time to talk. On SD, he was given 10 minutes almost to just talk and put himself over, even longer when he was in a big feud. Now on Raw, Raw is so crowded there is no time for that, so he has to cram his catchphraze, and eliminate all the rest.

Some of the shit he says makes me laugh.....

His mic skills.....I really don't think they are that bad. I don't think they are as amazing as some people like to think but they tend to be a bit better than others.

He isn't really awesome on the mic. Imo he is in the middle on Raw. He is behind people like Cena, HHH, Orton, Jericho, JBL and Umaga :p

He is alright, but all he does now is the same old thing. Tbh they should make him more in your face again, because the fans will dig it.

I don't think Kennedy's mic skills are overrated. The guy has charisma and he can cut great promos. I think the whole reason he is over is because of his mic skills, so they aren't bad obviously. To say they are overrated...well, it depends. If everyone is going to start comparing Kennedy to The Rock then yea, they are overrated. But honestly, Kennedy is great on the mic, he isn't as charismatic as The Rock was, but I'm sure he'll get there one day. I think he will have to eventually stop saying the "Kennedy....Kennedy" thing because its going to get old soon.

They aren't overrated and neither is he. It's just people always try to dig around for an excuse to bash someone. Blame booking.

When he gets into a lengthy feud he'll get more mic time and all of this overrated shit will be flushed.

If it wasn't the IWC, of course.

^^See no one ever said he was completely overrated, so idk what you are going on about. And if I wanted to bash Kennedy, I could say one word .... steroids.

And as far as his mic skills getting him over, his gimmick played a role too.

True at that ... Also I think that he has great Mic Skills I mean he can go far with his Mike Skills like what Rock and Cena did (not saying he is one of them but using them as an example)... I believe that Kennedy should win some event like MITB (i know he has before), Rumble or something like that and get a good run in 09 but until than he should just be having a mid card feud ....
