Kelvin Gastelum on beating Nick Musoke, weight issues - wants Mike Dolce back.

Prior to his win over Nicholas Musoke at UFC Fight Night 44, Kelvin Gastelum was forced to give up 20% of his earning to Musoke after failing to make weight. The youngest Ultimate Fighter winner weighed in at 172.5 pounds and was given an additional two hours to get to the 171 pound limit. Unfortunately for him - that didn't happen.

But that didn't stop him from putting on an impressive performance over Musoke. Gastelum defeated the Swedish Striker on the feet over the course of three rounds to pull out the 29-28 unanimous decision all across the board.

In a post fight interview Fox Sports 1, Kelvin Gastelum discussed his performance:

He came in real strong, and I didn't expect that at all - for him to shoot on me. I thought he was more standup, but it was just a mind thing, I just got off to a late start. He was a very game opponent but I knew I had to push the pace in the later rounds and come out with the W somehow.

He also discussed his current weight issues in which forced him to forefit his earnings

I came in brolo and real confident in making the weight this time, and my weight was good but the water unloading process just went down south with me. I didn't do it right somehow, just made a mistake in that process and I paid the price. I'm gonna have to reassess and somehow think about some other way.

How is that other way? Not even he knows at this point, but he did drop a familiar name in order to help with with the process. Hoping middleweight was out of the process

That's what I'm gonna have to reassess, I'm gonna speak to Mike Dolce again and hopefully get some help from him. Hopefully middleweight's out of the question but we'll talk.

With the win Gastelum now climbs to 9-0 with a UFC record of 4-0. Prior to defeating Musoke, he also defeated Uriah Hall at Middleweight while also defeating Brian Melancon and Rick Story at welterweight.

It makes sense for him to stay at Welterweight, guys like Chris Weidman would crush him.

Yeah the guy is a welterweight and needs to be a welterweight, he just needs someone like a Dolce to help him do it, so hopefully they work together for his next fight.
