Will Kane go down as potentially the most misused superstar in the modern era of wrestling? Think about it... The guy had huge potential from day one. He was involved in massive feuds, and was able to provide the type of unrealistic storylines that WWE liked at the time. Then, when they unmasked him, he was still able to provide those storylines, but also able to provide more realistic and believable ones. The guy had a character perfect for storylines, but he could also wrestle some good matches as well. Yet, you look back, and he's only had 1 world title reign, and it wasn't exactly spectacular.
Do you think they got all they could out of Kane, or was/is there so much more that could've been done with him?

Spectacular? It lasted a minute over 24 hours :(.

Kane's never been marketable, that's why he didn't succeed. With his character, he's always been there to either destroy Undertaker, or compliment him. He's definitely been in some incredibly memorable shit, and times when he broke Kayfabe, you respected his admiration for the business and industry itself. I look at his time spent with the company as a success though.

I just hope they close his tenure with the company in Kayfabe and have him involved with Undertaker, either as a team or as a feud.

I know that tons of people will say he was greatly misused, but I don't think he was at all. The fact of the matter is, Kane isn't that good. He's nothing special in the ring and completely average on the mic. If anything he should be thanking the WWE for what they did with him. Had they not made him the storyline brother of the Undertaker, there is little doubt in my mind that he wouldn't have been around for as long as he has.

As far as getting what they could out of him, I'd say they have. He's been a solid mid card/on the rare occasion lower main event monster heel that has put over countless guys. They have gotten a lot out of Kane and I don't think he's been misused at all.

^100% agreed.
I have never seen anything overly special in Kane. From the second he was brought in, although booked as possibly the most unstoppable monster ever (at that time) he was simply there to have Undertaker look even better.
The fact that Kane didn't completely catch on right away as a legit and permanent main eventer I think really sealed his fate in WWE. The highlight of his career is holding the WWE title for a single night.
I believe if anything, the last chance for Kane to truly move up the ranks and hold gold for a real reign was when he returned with the half mask years back. From there they completely ruined his character and it's never been the same since(actually almost instantly...via defense of the US and the Kane-a-rooni). Bottom line is that Kane has some of the best hooks in the company in being friends with Undertaker. He's done his job over the years and has never really been bad enough to warrant being released.
He was used I believe to his full potential, but I think WWE may have held back pulling the trigger a few times earlier in his career. However, I have read rumors that Kane never really wanted to hold the WWE title and was simply happy with his place in the company.

^I don't think those are rumors, I've seen him say in an interview before that he's always enjoyed is work with the WWE and that's why he's never considered leaving the company to pursue business elsewhere.

Well, I believe it's probably true, but I've never heard it direct from his mouth so I say rumors..lol.
Speaking of which, I hear he's interested in pursuing politics when his time in WWE is up. Who here wants to see Kane in a suit and business man haircut? lol.

Honestly, with hair and eyebrows, the guy looks like a normal person. I doubt he's an idiot, so I don't see why he shouldn't at least dabble in it?

^He's actually quite intelligent and pretty heavily involved in backing politicians already.
But anyway, this has nothing to do with his push rate over his career..lol.

I don't think he was underused at all. His main purpose was basically to be Undertaker's "other half" and his popularity allowed him to have some great feuds and moments but I don't think they ever planned on giving him a bunch of titles.

I really liked Kane until they removed the mask. He just wasn't Kane to me anymore and I didn't like him as much....if at all anymore. I just thought it was a bad move and he's not the "monster" they wanted him to be anymore. He's just some ugly guy with a chip on his shoulder.

Maybe not created to be a title mainstay, but he was a great character and has consistently been a damn good worker.

Too many fucked up or just plain shitty storylines + the removal of his mask largely ruined things tho' and he's gradually become a ME jobber like JBLs run on Raw.... I'm always shocked as hell to see Kane get a PPV win these days (especially Punk @ Backlash this year!) and keep forgetting that he's even on SD.

Shame tho' cos short of (extremely succesfully!!!) debuting a new monster, there's no-one else with that great a storyline potential for Takers eventual retirement.

I hope they retire them together (or Kane first) as it would just seem wrong Kane out-'living' The Undertaker.

Kane imo should have never been unmasked to be honest it eliminated all of his myserious mystique and the "monster" element from his character. I honestly believed that when he was unmasked he was just waiting for his release. I mean sure he was given a "monster heel" push for what 2 months afterwords? He had all of his credibility jobbed out of him by that time but still during the feud he had with Trips (that brought upon the holy ass raping of everyone's eyes known as "Katie Vick") The way the wwe booked it I honestly thought that he actually had a shot at being a World Champion...for more then a day.

meh, bring back the pre-uncle fester kane and he's better than everyone on the roster (except maybe hbk). his gimmick was fucking awesome, he only lost matches when he got screwed.

im honestly not gonna bother sucking his dick in this thread. i hate people who try to talk about how others feel about a certain subject to explain themselves but ill take a shortcut here and do it (blow me). go back to the SD fatal 4 way match around a year ago involving batista and rey i think. kane got the biggest pops during that match. he still does kinda every time he hits his uppercut.

his credibility started getting a liiiiittle bit fucked after jobbing to triple h on more than one occasion. he got his shit back together when austin stunned him trying to bring the old kane back, then it all started going down again after his feud with shane. although his feuds after that were still GOOD, they just weren't good enough. by today's standards though i'd say they were excellent.

people who keep saying kane sucks obviously started watching wrestling in like 2005.

^^ Well put. ^^
Kane still is a legit in ring preformer, I believe if he was never unmasked and jobbed to Trips countless times I think we would be talking about Kane in the main event picture of SD rather then him in the...whatever the hell role he is in this week. Sort of conversations. A few small changes in the last 3 or 4 years and BAM! Kane is the big red machine.

seriously, how many superstars have jobbed as much as kane did for a lengthy period of time and STILL got bigger pops than half the roster gets? doesn't that say anything?

Exactly. I believe that because of that he COULD still win a world title. FTW
