CenaMarks WrestleMania Review

Match 1: MITB Ladder Match: ***
I was actually surprised that this match led off the show. Overall, it was a decent match with two above average spots and one very good high spot. I was hoping for an RKO off the ladder and I'm gald they delivered. The Green Bay Plunge on Hornswoggle was sick as well. However, the spot of the night had to go to Edge and Jeff Hardy. When I saw this setting up I thought for sure someone was going to run in and break it up before it happened. It had the potential to be extremely dangerous. When Edge went out on the stretcher, I got annoyed because I figured he would come back out and weasal his way to a win.

Kennedy winning was probably the best decision, only if he holds the briefcase for a good 8 - 12 months. He needs more build to be a credible contender, otherwise, he will be fed to Cena or Taker. Overall, not the best ladder match but fun nonetheless.

Match 2: Khali vs Kane: **
The was, by far, Khali's best match to date. It was still pretty average at best and not good enough to merit more than two stars. Khali looked to be as mobile as he has ever been and did a great job of helping Kane with the Slam. The problem was, the Slam will not be remembered in 6 months, let alone 20 years like Hogan/Andre. It was a fairly lame tribute if you ask me.

Khali winning was the right choice. Kane's best is behind him and they need to build Khali up so he can be fed to Cena at some point this year.

Match 3: Benoit vs MVP: ***
Everyone thought Benoit would do the job once again, so the outcome was definitely a surprise. I presume Benoit got the victory to have some momentum heading into his move to Raw. He will probably drop the belt to MVP within the month.

Despite the loss, this match did wonders for MVP. His entrance was the best of the night, he showed his charisma, and he hung with Benoit for the duration. Benoit proved once again why he is great. He put MVP over without having to drop the belt. Not many wrestlers have that ability.

Match 4: Undertaker vs Batista: **** 1/2
I was so shocked by this match that I had to watch it twice with a clear head. When all was said and done, this was the match of the night and one of the best mania matches I have ever watched. It stole the show. I was on the edge of my seat the entire match. Great spots, back and forth action, near falls, great reversals.

As great as Taker was, this was no carry job. Batista was on the top of his game like it was 2005 again. Either Batista got worse before he got better, or he just does not try unless its Wrestlemania. Either way, the inconsistency has hurt him and it is probably the leading cause of the title change. Hopefully, last night was a wakeup call and turning point for Batista. He actually looked like the power wrestler he is supposed to look like.

Despite the inexplicable mid card slot, this match was booked perfectly. batista had to drop the belt to regain his diminishing fan base. Hopefully Batista can stay healthy and perform up to this level on a consistent basis.

Match 5: ECW Originals vs New Breed ** 1/2Why didn't they make this extreme rules? Why did the Originals win? Why did Burke dress like a gay matador? So many questions, so few answers. This match was nothing special at all. It wouldn't even mainevent a free TV show. This was the one match that needed a gimmick, yet we get a regular eight man tag match that lasts 10 minutes. I'm glad the Originals got their time to shine, but the booking was all wrong. Worst booked match of the night.

Match 6: Battle of the Billionaires **
For all the hype, this match delivered less than I thought it would. If not for Austin and Shane, this match would have received zero stars from me. Did Lashley even do anything after he destroyed Estrada? I barely noticed him. Why the hell did Austin stun Trump and not Lashley? The overprotection of Lashley has got to stop.

Match 7: Ashley vs Melina: Zero stars
What was the point of the lumberjills? They did nothing. This match was nothing but a bathroom break and bong hit.

Match 8: Cena vs. HBK: ****
This match would have been the match of the night if not for Taker/Batista. The build and storytelling were great. I love how it started off slow and ended fast. Just a great match. HBK working Cena's leg was brilliant. Cena sold it well, then forgot he was supposed to have a hurt leg later on.

The pile driver on the steps was a great spot. The ending of the match brought this to 4 stars. I love when wrestlers kick out of finishers at Wrestlemania. For a while it was impossible to tell who was going to win. Despite the selling error, Cena wrestled another great match.

The only thing wrong with this match was the lack of a Cena heel turn. HBK was acting heel but he clearly had the crowd support. The perfect time for Cena to make a turn was when the ref was lecturing him right before the super kick. Cena should have given the FU to the ref. I was waiting for it to happen but it never did.

Overall Wrestlemania Ranking: 2.5 stars out of 5
Wrestler of the Night: Undertaker
Match of the Night: Undertaker vs Batista
Spot of the night: Jeff Hardy and Edge
Best Entrance: MVP
Worst Match: Womens title

I agreee with what you said, the best Match was taker, the moment he lifted the title, it signified someone who deserves the title, someone who will acctualy defend it. AMAZING.

MITB was a wrestlemania Moment i think, I wanted Randy to win, but KENNEDY suited me fine. The Jeff/Edge thing was crazy, just wotching it gave me the felling one of these men were dead.

Khali/Kane whole tribute thing was a smart idea, but kinda sucked in the end.

Battle of billionaires was lame in my mind, had some good moments, but it sucked.

HBK/CENA out of order, Cena shouldn't have won end of story. I thought Cean hurt his leg?, obviously he didn't think that.

Melina/Ashley i was praying Melina won, something told me thought that Melina wasn't meant ti win. ?

Benoit/MVP good way to make MVP look good. nice

ECW Match Elijah Burke, need i say more. ECW built on violence and anger ruined by a plonker in a pink matador suit. Wrong.

Well thats my opinions of the matches, feel free to differ

Just wanted to stop by and comment and say great post buddy.

MITB: Definately had the spot of the night with the Hardy and Edge thing. Another thing I would just like to tell everyone because it was hilarious. When Kennedy had Hornswagle ready for the plunge my friend made the best quote of the night by saying: "That is one broken little man." and after that he jumped off the ladder. It was funny.

The next two I don't even remember...maybe that was because I was ordering pizza for the rest of the fucks I was with. But I did get back in time to watch the end of the Benoit/MVP match. And that was decent.

Taker/Batista: I have to agree probably the match of the night next to Cena vs HBK. I hear Takers enterance was phenomenal even though I missed it because my brother decided it would be funny to call himself the pizza man and I had to go downstairs to let his ass in...asshole. Anyway I loved it from the get go, and even though Kaedon will probably hate me for it. I like it that the WWE kept one of its greatest things alive by having Taker keep his streak.

ECW O/ECW N: lol, gay matador.

BotB: Meh, I thought it was funny. But I knew Trump was going to win. I think the whole Shane thing was great, and Trumps tackling of Vince.

Ashley/Melina: I agree WTF

Cena/HBK: Great match from both competitors. Had the second greatest spot of the night when HBK did the moosault from the second rope onto Cena on the floor. I still would have liked to see HBK hold the title one more time. The entire time this match was going on, one of the guys that was watching the PPV with us kept talking about how much Cena sucked, and as much as I like to say I hate Cena it is really only to make this girl mad, anyway I just wanted to punch that guy in the back of the head.

Good PPV, I'd give it more than 2.5 out of 5. Definately 3.5 or even a 4.

P.S. Afterwards I put my friend in the Tazzmission and he tapped. I rockzorz. Just thought I'd share that.

^^^It sounds like the match against your friend was better than Ashley/Melina.

pretty much agree with alot of whats already been said,
Match of the night- Taker-Batista, Cena-HBK
Spot- Jeff Hardy-Edge, runner up HBK delivered to Cena on steps
Best wrestler-Taker, runner up HBK
Worst match-Ashley-Melina, runner up Khali-Kane
Overall ehhhh 6.5 out of 10 maybe Kane should have been a better match, the ECW Originals-New Breed should have been Extreme Rulz, London and Kendrick should have lost their tag team titles to one of the many tag teams that get no play for whatever reason. LAME!!!

i dont think id give it a 6.5 out of 10 becuz thats a 65% which is a D....i thought the ppv was pretty good...i mean having melina vs ashely second to last after taker and batista was maybe the worst decision in wrestlemania history.....other then that i thought the pay per view was pretty good...id give it like a 8.3/10

Really man, you know how I feel about Cena right? But his no selling of that leg really pissed me off!!! And you only gave MITB 3/5 stars? Come on man that match was WAY BETTER THAN THAT lol.
