Remember that report saying Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the leading contenders for the Star-Lord role Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy? Well, he isn't anymore because he has committed to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, according to Deadline.
Gordon-Levitt will play the role of a gambler named Johnny, which was originally written with Johnny Depp in mind.
While the Sin City sequel is based on Miller's graphic novel, the Johnny storyline was written specifically for the movie.
The movie has been shooting since November of last year, but it has not filled out its cast as yet. There are openings for a female lead that was written for Angelina Jolie and an unspecified male lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Since Gordon-Levitt passed on both Godzilla and Guardians of the Galaxy, does this mean he's leaving his schedule open for Warner Bros' Justice League movie?
Directed by Rodriguez and Miller, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For also stars Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Jamie Chung, Jessica Alba, and Dennis Haysbert, who will replace the recently departed Michael Clarke Duncan.
The release date of the movie has been set for October 4, 2013.
So much for Guardians but a good add for Sin City (although it has taken to long to make the sequel).
