It was reported Wednesday by MMAFighting.com that Jon Fitch vs. Josh Burkman was officially confirmed to serve as the main event of World Series of Fighting's third installment. The card is set to take place on June 14th in Las Vegas Nevada. This will be a rematch, as both men previously met back in 2006 with Fitch finishing the fight in the second round via rear naked choke.

Despite holding an impressive record of 24-5, the former UFC number one contender has had mixed results in his past five fights, going only 2-2 with one draw. Fitch was knocked out in the first round by Johny Hendricks back in December of 2011 at ufc 141, and is fresh off an embarrasing loss to Demain Maia at UFC 156, in a fight that Fitch was easily controlled for three rounds and wwas completely dominated at his own game.

Burkman is currently riding a four fight win streak and is coming off an impressive victory over former UFC veteran Aaron Simpson at WSOF 2 which took place last Saturday in Atlantic City. Burkman viciously knocked out Simpson with a barrage of punches that left him unconscious in the first round.

Although the fight has been ruled as a non- title bout, expect the winner of this matchup to be lead man once Ray Sefo, president of the WSOF begins crowning champions and implementing title fights.

I was pissed to see Fitch cut from the UFC but it's good to see him getting back in the game.
