"The 16-time WWE world champion, John Cena has teamed up with Nintendo to help promote the Nintendo Switch for one stop of a three-location US tour.

Cena, who famously suffers from delusions of being the invisible man despite a smattering of evidence proving his crystal-clear visibility, will be on-hand during the first Switch pop-up event at Blue Cloud Movie Ranch, California on February 23 to show off 1, 2 Switch.

He's apparently been chosen because his athleticism and acting ability make him "as versatile as the Nintendo Switch console itself." Ahem. A selection of YouTube influencers will also be there to further promote the Switch."

Good thing they didn't chose Roman Reigns to promote the Switch...
People would just start booing whenever they see/hear one.

Shouldn't Xavier woods/New Day be involved in this?

Xavier Woods would have been better as he is a gamer, but at the same time...John Cena is more recognizable even to non-WWE fans so, that's cool.

Yeah gamers dont need people promoting it anyways as they will know about it already lol. This is their stab at non gaming audiences (i.e. Parents and grandparents shopping for their little minions)

Cena is a massive gamer. He plays a lot of old school arcade games and fighting games and in his own words have clocked a inhuman amount of hours in Red Alert.

He also complains about modern day controllers being too small for his hands, so the Switch will look hilariously small with him promoting it.

Have seen a couple of interviews with Cena where he seems genuinely passionate about gaming.

So in addition to his brand recognition, he's a good choice for someone to promote the console rather than someone showing up and obviously being there because they're told to.

It's wrestling. Most people involved are gamers and or/nerds.
Isn't that a board generalization? And when I think wrestlers...I think of them as athletes and performers...
so I can't imagine them having the time to actually sit and play video games.

And I only suggested Xavier Woods because I know he has a gaming a channel on youtube...

For the record...I don't really play video games...and the last game I did play was a Pokemon
game 7 months ago...

Most of them play while traveling state to state. Even CM Punk plays/played video games lol

AJ Lee played them as well.

Big Show is actually a pretty hardcore gamer from what I've heard from him.

A lot of wrestlers definitely game.

I'm surprised Punk would have the time...between being injured, complaining and
ranting about how he's the best in the world...

Okay...you know what...forget I said anything...I was wrong...everyone in the world
likes/plays video games except me.

Is that cool?

Not everyone likes gaming, I was just saying a few others who would seem to not enjoy it and actually do. I would say that 65% to 70% of the active roster enjoys them on some level. Enjoying games and being a "gamer" are two entirely different things though. A gamer is some who invests a lot of hours into gaming on a weekly basis, sometimes matching that of a part or full time job. So you saying Xavier would have been better falls under that. He obviously plays more because he IS a gamer. John Cena just plays games BUT he is better known in and outside the ring. People who have never watched wrestling know who he is. Him enjoying games is a bonus.

It is just splitting hairs at this point really. I enjoy video games and play them almost every day but not in the sense of a full or even part time job. I am also not competitive about it. I don't consider myself a gamer, I am just a woman who enjoys playing video games. That is where I see John Cena. Now I could be wrong here, for all I know he is strung out on video games and plays them way more than I could imagine but given his schedule, it is not likely.

Most top athletes are also gamers. It is a easy way to unwind and think of something else. And like mentioned. It's something they can bring on the road.

The whole athletes give gamers swirlies thing is long long dead.
