Jihadi John named as Mohammed Emwazi.
On 26 February 2015, The Islamic State (ISIS) killer Jihadi John has been identified as Mohammed Emwazi, from west London.
The world knows him as “Jihadi John,” the masked man with a British accent who has beheaded several hostages held by the Islamic State and who taunts audiences in videos circulated widely online.
Emwazi was known to British security services but they chose not to disclose his name earlier for operational reasons, it is claimed.
He is believed to have travelled to Syria around 2012 and to have later joined the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil), the group terrorising Iraq and Syria.
Jihadi John first appeared in a video last August, when he appeared to kill the American journalist James Foley.

Not him: Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary "L Jinny" a London rapper initially identified as a suspect was ruled out. It was confirmed that "Jihadi John" is Mohammed Emwazi, a Kuwaiti-born man in his mid-20s from West London.
