- New details are coming out regarding Jerry Lawler’s heart attack on Monday night. One of Lawler’s sons, Kevin Lawler, told WREG-TV in Memphis that his father told him that he was experiencing chest pains Saturday in Aruba, where Lawler was participating in the Caribbean Wrestling Bash independent tour.
A neighbor of Lawler, Joe Cooper, told WREG earlier this week that Lawler also complained to him about chest pains last week, but Lawler brushed it off as indigestion.
Kevin Lawler mentioned his family history of heart attacks and noted Jerry’s love of fried chicken may have been a contributor.
“No matter how healthy you think you are, or what you try to do, you never know. You should just always stay up to date, and current on that,” Kevin said. “One of his only real vices when it comes to that, he’s just a huge Church’s Chicken.”
There are several factors that led to Jerry Lawler surviving the heart attack. Aside from the fact that the King experienced his medical emergency with a doctor just feet away from him, his doctor told him this week that he’s “extremely healthy for someone who’s 62.” Lawler is in tremendous physical shape and has never used drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes.
