Absolutely, this will definately put Jericho into a much broader spotlight. Something that obviously does hold interest to him since he spent several years away from wrestling to try and achieve success in other forms of media.

I also heard Rourke trained pretty hard for this movie and actually did quite a good job in the ring. Perhaps basic jobber card wrestling skills and someone as incredible in the ring as Jericho is all we need to see a DECENT match.

Regardless, this feud is obviously going to almost entirely rely on both of these guys phenominal ability to do one thing.....talk. I don't forsee Rourke making too many appearances on the road to WM.

Rourke failed at that Larry King interview. I mean, he practically backed down from Y2J and said he didn't want to wrestle him. You could see how Chris Jericho was trying to save the segment by saying he was there if Rourke continued to make the challenge but Mickey just kept saying it wasn't his world.

Lol, Rourke botched in that segment.

That, or we are really going to get a boxing match :shifty:

LMAO...unlike Mayweather, Rourke will KO Jericho with a bag of coke and pain pills............ that was mean..

I'm sure Mickey will get more into it once we see his first WWE appearance where Jericho I'm sure will attack him.

The more I think of it, the clearer it becomes. They shouldn't give mic time to Mickey Rourke.

When making the challenge he said: They asked me to do Wrestlemania, practically killing the entire point of the challenge.

And now, he botches like he did in Larry King.

See that's the problem.... A similar thing happened last year with Mayweather when it come to promos... No appreciation of the psychology.... Look what happened... They had to turn Big Show face to save the whole angle.

Edit: Well I say "save"... We were left pissed that Golliath didn't beat David, FFS!

^100% correct.
There is a huge difference from being a celeb who is a casual wrestling fan and enjoys the product and actually understanding how the business works. Although Rourke did star in behind the scenes movie it doesn't mean he has a strong grasp on how the business works. Still, a tip of the hat the guy for actually being willing to participate in the actual sport.
Perhaps he'll capture a world title much like David Arquette did in WCW when Ready To Rumble came out. lmfao

you know they'll make jericho lose which will hurt his character credibility unless they have him beat cena or something clean the night after.

and by the sounds of the segment the WWE people cant be too happy with Rourke, he totally messed it up.

I watched this interview on Larry King as it was occurring. I stumbled across it while channel surfing by accident and watched a good portion of it. I gotta say this was a great promo for Jericho as he really came off as a bastard, and did so in what is usually not a wrestling spotlight which can only be good for him. Rourke, however, left me wanting more. I kept hoping he would finally crack and go "Ok, you know what you ass, you and me at Mania. I'm tired of your garbage. Let's do this." But it never happened and I was left wanting more.

Adam, Big Show got knocked out and he didn't loss (too much) credibility.

Besides, losing in a match to Mickey Rourke isn't any worse than getting down to your knees and ask for forgiveness imo

As awesome as this would be to see, how many of the fans at 'Mania would actually know who Rourke is, what his character in The Wrestler is like, his finisher?

A good portion of 'Mania is kids. I don't know too many parents that would bring their kids to see the movie.

Like I said before, I suspect this to be a good match. No DQs would add a whole other dimension though and would be able to cover Rourke's weaknesses. But being an actor, you'd expect him to be able to sell well and Jericho has enough bucketloads of talent to carry him to a **-*** match.

As previously stated.... it's been said Rourke is pretty damn good in the ring for someone who simply trained for a movie. I'm sure some dry run/workout matches would be enough to prepare him.

As for people not hearing of Mickey Rourke.....what?
Pretty much anyone over the age of 14 who watches wrestling is bound to have heard of/seen this movie by that point.

I think Jericho will be able to carry him through an at least decent match. However....I do believe Jericho losing this one will hurt him considerably more than Show losing last year.
