A welterweight bout between Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez has long been rumored to be in the works for an unnamed UFC event set for the first quarter of 2012.
While we have remained silent on the rumor, it has as of late, picked up some more steam and all signs point to this clash getting put together and signed. While no host event has been included with the rumblings behind the scenes
I have been told by a reliable source that if the deal gets done the fight will likely take place on the second UFC on FOX card as part of the evening’s main card.
Neither fighter will confirm with MMAJunkie.com if the fight is a done deal.
Jake Ellenberger was last seen dispatching Jake Shields in devastating fashion during their “UFC Fight Night 25: Battle on the Bayou – Shields vs. Ellenberger†main event his past September.
The win put a stamp on his dominance since entering the UFC and gave him his fifth straight victory. Jake’s lone UFC loss came at the hands of Carlos Condit, via split decision, in his Octagon debut.
After dropping back to back fights to BJ Penn and John Hathaway, Diego Sanchez has found some recent success back in the UFC’s welterweight division. Coming off of two straight victories against top welterweight prospects, Martin Kampmann and Paulo
Thiago a win over Ellenberger would speak volumes for his progression as a mixed martial artist. Sanchez is 6-2 in his last eight UFC bouts.

If this fight gets added to the Fox card that'd be awesome as that card is really coming along. And this fight would be a great addition to it.
