Honestly...if we're going "level" wise..

Flair and Hogan I'de say are on a level of their own.

Then you'de have Taker, Austin, Rock, HBK, HHH. I really don't see what would set Taker below any of these guys. He's been around longer and enjoyed the same (if not more arguably) sucess and fan recognition as any of these guys. The only reason you don't see it is because he's still around and cannot yet be lumped into that fantasy league yet. Trust me, if Taker was gone you'de see it.

No. Why would Austin be ona l ower level than Hogan? Austin carried the company to heights it had never seen before. If Austin wasn't in WWE back then, and Taker was, it wouldn't have been nearly succesful. But on the flip side, if Taker wasn't in WWE, and Austin was, WWE still would've succeeded. The top tier of legends is reserved for the few (as in less than 5) guys who have carried the industry or company on their back through an era. Taker never did that. Never. Ever.

The Undertaker really from the months of May-January is nothing to write home about but February-April are the deadman's time to shine and that is why he has been able to stay active for nearly 20 years in the same company.

i know alot of people hated his biker gimmick but i loved it even when he was referred to as "big evil" dont get me wrong i still love his deadman gimmick but i liked him when he was a biker because he talked more and acted more like himself..him going at it with brock lesnar was a hell of a match so was when he defeated hhh and wrestlemania and when he would team up with his brother kane..i much prefer the biker gimmick because he just seems more "alive" and makes me want to cheer for him more

You just learned lesson ONE about wrestling fans. They are NEVER satisfied. When Taker was ABA people said "Ooh I hate this! It's not Taker!! We want the Deadman back!!" So he gives them that, and now what do we hear? "Oh it's so stale, we hate it we want the ABA back again!!" Some people you just simply cannot please.

Taker had been an upper tier worker before the Streak really had meaning (WM 18 @ 10 victories is when it became really relevant) so, yes, there would be a Taker without the Streak, he was insanely popular before and has always had a lofty spot on the card. The streak is just an angle worked for Wrestlemania, the other eleven months it holds no water. No legend can be a legend if he only excels for one month of the year and the Undertaker's career is far more encompassing than the streak.
Also, it would be the stupidest thing for the E to let Taker retire undefeated @ WM. They really don't have any sure fire way of making a new star besides having someone break Taker's streak. It would be stupid business, to go like 18-1 is still phenomenal, but to ignore the biggest possible rub the E still has up it's sleeve is beyond Blue and Mark Calloway has always done what is best for business, so when the time comes, I bet he'll be happy to lay down.

Of course there is. Its been said time and time again, Taker could lose every week for a month to Charlie Haas, Santino, Hornswaggle, and Tyson Kidd and STILL BE the most over motherfucker in the company. The way I see it, if he loses his streak in an epic match, it will cement his legacy further.
