That is why I think they had him beat Y2J and Edge, it made it so he didn't lose on his first defence. Also, I think Swagger will feud with Randy after ER, I think they will make it as if Swagger is trying to get the glory that Randy has fails.

1. Orton turned and became one of the top two faces in the WWE.
2. They didn't want the top two faces on the same show. Since Cena isn't going anywhere, Orton will be moving to SD.

3. Since Orton is so hot right now, they want him gunning for the top title.
4. The didn;t want to blow their load with Orton vs Jericho just yet.
5. They didn't want Orton and Edge (their newly crowned faces) going up against each other.
6. In steps Swagger, who will be the sacrificial lamb for Orton.

Actually, all those are reasons of why Swagger will retain tonight. Should Orton win the belt tonight, there's no feud between the two, so Orton would have to move to Smackdown and kick off one of those feuds WWE is apparently saving, and unless your reasoning is that they are saving them for Over the Limit, there's no way Orton wins tonight. He will win it, just not tonight

^lol they should really bring the regular title back since that isn't even Cena's gimmick anymore.

I agree with CMS. Lets say Swagger wins: I can put money on a non-clean win for Swagger; thus, driving Orton into a feud with him. Mind games from Swagger until Over the Limit where Orton comes out on top.

Despite how bad his reign may seem, I still cannot see him losing the belt at Extreme Rules. The superstar who doesn't get the upper hand going into a PPV usually picks up the victory. However, since Orton was overseas this entire week it is hard to judge. I refuse to judge the outcome of this match based on matches with Morrison and Undertaker without Orton, his opponent in the title match, being involved in some sort of capacity.

Told you so. It would have made no sense for Orton to win. WWE won't just pick Swagger up from the midcard and bury him just for the sake of it. Besides, if they really didn't give Orton the belt before so that they could save feuds with Y2J and Punk down that line that were bound to happen should had he picked up the belt instead of Swagger, giving him the belt a month later would have made no sense.

Still, watch Orton pick up the belt at Over the Limit.

ER: Swagger > Orton
Draft: Orton -> SD
OTL: Orton > Swagger
SD: Swagger loses rematch.
