Bret and micheals have first ladder match in history of wwf for the intercontinental title which bret hart won.... When bret become wwf champion he defeated shawn on various occasions invovling cage matches, title vs title match and others... During these times shawn was good for intercontinental champion not for wwf championship...There were various occasions in those days when shawn intentionally badmouthed Legendary stu hart and that was not part of storylines.. I remember shawn saying that how stu hart is a dead human being and is still walking in streets of canada because his body refuses to admit that he is dead..It was not liked by Bret and he confronted shawn on various occasions and shawn always denied that as a joke that he was...
As time went on Shawn started to get into picture of main event as he started feuding with his former bodyguard Diseal who rose to become wwf champion before micheals, shawn slowly and steadily rose to occasion and earned his right to be the no 1 contendar by his sheer talent and atheletic ability....from 1992-1996 Bret was the biggest hero in wwf along with undertaker.. In 1996 when bret wanted to go for semi retirement he agreed to put over shawn as the next hero for the wwf and he agreed to loose to shawn at wm12, as the story went on bret lost the title.. but as soon as shawn won the title he knowed that his era just got started, he knowed fully that bret is going out of wwf for many months atleast , so he thought it is the right occasion to get his hatred out which he had developed over many years towards bret and his family .. and thus he said get the fuck out of my ring....Knowing fully that bret won t reply because he is bound to do his job and is going out for semi retirement...meanwhile HBk developed brilliant feuds with guys like vader, sid, diseal etc... there is no denying that HBK was at its best in 1996
But as soon as Bret returned by denying the wcw offer , HBK again Begin to feel insecure by remmembering that how he worked under Bret shadow from 1992-1996, He fully knowed that as per storylines he had to loose title to bret at WM13 as to return favour to Bret, but instead he gave the infamous "I LOST MY SMILE SPEECH" and forfieted his title which bret won by defeating taker, austin, vader at final four match at IN YOUR HOUSE PV.
Shawn again felt insecure when austin was feuding brilliantly with bret and they put on Perhaps the greatest wrestlemania match of all time...When bret turned HEEL and Austin became Baby face as part of usa vs canada storylines, The whole focus was on them , HBK was no where near and insights of crowd.. Crowd seem to enjoy usa vs canada storyline and forgot HBK , which made HBK even more Frustrated....He want to get revenge from bret s return because of bret shawn best days of 1996 were over and the focus of crowd shifted from him to bret and austin.... So he begin to get in the ear of Vince mcmahon along with his friend HHH and tried everything to get bret out of wwe which he finally succeed in survivor series 1997, but his evil deeds were repayed by god as he broke his back and was out of business for 4 years.....
