The majority of people who watch WWE are probably marks. I think I might be the only one in my city who isn't. Everyone I know personally who watches WWE does not like Punk as he is a "bitch ass smurf". There is a large majority that still boos Punk, women & children for example :haha:

Look at the RR he was still getting cheered and same on RAW as well. All depends on ctowds and whether they are the IWC or casuals.

I mean Heyman still got cheers and a ECW chant on RAW monday as it was fans who know wrestling and respect him.

Punk's a heel, no doubt about it. Smarks more often than not tend to look past characters and instead look at the quality a wrestler performs at for when they decide who to cheer or not. Obviously Punk, who works a high quality ring and mic style, is going to get cheered by smarks.

When was the last time you watched? The moment you start beating up clear cut face characters like Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler (as well as threaten to beat Jerry to death) you are a heel. Punk has been heel since August.

Well I was under the impression that another way to demonstrate that you're heel is if you're attacking faces on top of being a character that people want to hate and want off their screen. I think Punk has made some choices along the way to suggest that he is a heel. Especially with the information out now about hiring/working with The Shield and Brad Maddox it adds more to the "bad guy" appeal even if he still has a loyal following. The Shield has attacked a lot of the popular face superstars along the way presumably for CM Punk. But overall I think a heel character can definitely be likable especially if they're as talented on the mic as CM Punk is. Arguably CM Punk is the best current superstar on the mic and I think that attributes a lot to why he has such a loyal fanbase along with having great technical ability in the ring.

The IWC is not the majority. The casuals can't stand him, and there are certainly more of them than us. Nearly all heels tend to get cheers from the smarky members of the crowd now, it's something WWE need to realise. The product is outdated with this good guy/bad guy stuff; they need to evolve.

Punk can't be a tweener because WWE have no idea how to book one.

The good guy/bad guy thing was played out in the 90s when Eazy E took over WCW and Vince put out his "Attitude Era" video promo. The fact that they were smart enough to move away from cliche wrestling 15 years ago but dumb enough to come back to it all these years later is :facepalm1: worthy

Yup, agreed. It's quite funny now looking back at Vince's introduction to the Attitude Era. Everything he says wrestling companies shouldn't do, WWE now do.

The purpose of a heel is for you to hate the shit out of them and want them off your screen, that is not the case with most WWE fans. That is what I'm led to believe. Do you agree with this logic?

:facepalm1:

This is totally wrong. A heel's purpose is to influence people to want to see them lose.

But I don't want any of the current heels to lose...? Cesaro is beast, so is Ziggler and Punk's pipebombs are glorious. So... how does that work?

What is all this "good guy/bad guy is outdated" stuff?

Despite Vince's "Cure For The Common Show" speech, the AE still had clearly defined faces and heels, those who you cheered for and those who you booed. The characters had more depth and felt more real, but it's not like everyone on the roster was getting both cheers and boos from different parts of the audience.

It was a lot less black and white. Nobody is saying they didn't have good guys and bad guys during the AE.

Things were just a lot different. Heels had varying types of characters. Faces had heel tendencies. Seemingly 'good guys' were portrayed as heels and 'bad guys' like SCSA were the 'good guys'. They actually listened to the fans when it came to how to book guys.

The "good guy bad guy outdated stuff" is talking about having generic good/bad guys. This guy is good because he says good things about the city and never cheats to win. He fights bad guys. This guy is bad because he says bad things about the city and cheats to win. It's so played out and every character on WWE's roster save a few is generic and as bland as bland can be.
