I don't particularly see what the point of kidding up WWE was. Prior to that change kids were still watching WWE. Parents who let kids watch wrestling, probably always let them did. Those who feel WWE is inappropriate for their kids still probably think so because wrestling still implies fighting. By kidding up wrestling I feel WWE alienated some adult fans who have the jobs to buy the tickets, and the PPVs etc. Kids still watched WWE when it was more risque, and also appeased the adults. Maybe I was the only one who felt a bit insulted as an adult when Cena sprayed "JBL is POOPY" on that car...like WTF?! Can you get anymore preschool than that? I was like what's next? Orton, and Batista settling their differences with a puppet show, and a cake bake off?(and would you believe I just got an image of them doing that in my mind?LOL!) Do you feel the change was neccesary, or did it hurt the product?I just don't understand the point of why WWE did this, when WWE was just fine the way it was.

It's reverted back to being 'family friendly' as it always had been pre-Attitude... It's not "aimed at kids" like so many peeps complain.

As for the same amount of peeps watching.... On the contrary it was concluded that a lot of parents (including former WWE stars!) stopped letting their kids watch WWE as it had become a "T & A show"... I doubt VERY much if Vince hadn't done his market research.

At least we don't get stupid angles like women giving birth to hands, live sex celebrations, raping dead bodies, and all that shit.

Plus, WWE PG made the product more wrestling oriented without all the bullshit. In short, I like it.

I don't mind it the way it is now as long as we see a little bit more blood im all for it :). Blood in certain feuds or situations work, like orton and hhh should have it.

If you want to explain to me what's so kid friendly about having a man in his mid 30's ghave a relationship with the mid 40's wife of a dead wrestler, just to get ahead, or having a psychopath punt a grown woman in the head, or having a grown man smash into another guys house, beat his ass with a sledgehammer, and get arrested, maybe I can answer the question properly...
Edit: About the Cena thing. I agree it was lame, but any of you who think the Rock didn't say stuff like that is dumb. Not that I'mc omparing the too, but the Rock, who all of you seem to hold the measuring stick with, said things like "poopy pants" and "stinky diaper" all the time, even during the attitude era.

Meh, I don't care anymore. It's not like the product would be any better, regardless. It still involves grown men/women fighting and hitting each other with objects. It's orientated to accomidate children, so parents can feel comfortable with seeing them laugh at something like Hornswoggle and Finlay messing around in the ring, and then watch Orton and HHH beat the crap out of each other sort of thing. I guess, that's what I percieve it as.

To continue what I said before... The way I see it is this. If they continued the Attitude Era, and never stopped, it would've been dull as shit. So they switched to the post Attitude era (2002-2005), and kept the same attitude, just not in the same era. 2002-2005 still had the swearing, the brutality, the sexy divas, and sex oriented stuff in general. Just not as much as the Attitude Era. But now, it's time for a change. There's only so much you can do. I probably like the sex and violent parts we used to have more than most people on this forum, but even I realise you can only do so much.
While other people get mad over it, I'll just wait... In a few years, we'll end up having some of that back again. Put it this way. It's a rebuilding stage for WWE. Alot of their old fanbase has left, cause most have moved on, and don't like wrestling anymore. Sure, there's still millions of fans, uncluding old ones, but the ratings haven't been anywhere near where they used to be for years now. So WWE needs to create new fans. Well, when you create new fans, who do you target? Just like buildign a sports team, you go for young players. So WWE is targetting younger kids. Similar to what they did Pre-attitude era. Now, once that generation of 8-10 year olds gets older, in say 2-3 years, we'll start seeing more of the Attitude back, as that's what those fans will want.
I love the way it used to be, with the edginess in the product, but by taking a break from it for a while, they're getting a new audience to grow up with WWE, and aren't overusing the same edgy storylines, so that in a few years, they can go back to that, and it'll all be fresh.
Not to mention in the meantime, as long as it isn't super "kid friendly" I'm fine.

I think they succeeded in putting a guy like Cena over, but that's what I see it as... them trying to really push Cena as the face of the WWE. Toning Edge down has hurt his character, limiting blood takes away from the Orton/Triple H/McMahons feud, and the language restriction has toned down so many promos that could have been good. I can't even recall the last time someone said they're going to kick ass that's how bad the language thing has been.

I don't know though, I think they've done a fairly good job regardless. It'd still be nice to have Edge with no restriction, but I've not really complained too much. I've pointed out that I wish they'd revert some stuff, but it's not been so bad that it's unbearable to me, so meh.

^ I'm sorry, but I would NOT want to see another Edge live sex celebration.

Think about it this way guys, with WWE going PG at least we don't get stupid offensive Blue angles, like the ones I stated in my previous post. At least now the product is more wrestling oriented, while still giving us great storylines that do have some form of violence. The only cons that come with the new PG programming is probably the lack of blood as I feel it can help put over a match as being brutal, and it can definitely help a feud (Orton/Mcmahons to be exact). But to be honest, lack of blood is just a small sacrifice compared to all the good things that come with the new style of WWE programming. At least now, WWE is more about the wrestling than old pregnant women.

I've said it before but if you can't express the necessary emotion in a promo without foul language then you are pretty shit on the mic.

As for all the sex shit? ....Wake up to the fact that there's an entire porn industry out there that will quite happily take your money....

Is it just me or is the idea of one moment getting horny over scantilly clad honeys only to be faced with sweaty beefcake men in speedo's (or Big Daddy V) the next kinda, i dunno, 'un-desirable' to start with?

Maybe if I was a bi-sexual woman, but otherwise..... "NAAAAHHH!!!" LOL

^No. Guys like good looking women, and it shouldn't always have to be in porn for us to see them. Seriously now. Like I said, currently, like you, I have no problem with thwe way WWE is. It hasn't really taken away much from the product, and they still manage to do all the basics. I just hope eventually, in 2 years or so, they go back to some more edginess (not even Attitude era style. Just pre-PG stuff), as it does add some more to the product.

Good looking female wrestlers is one thing (as said elsewhere your average male wrestler is doing alright in the looks department so it's not like I see it as a gender/looks exploitation issue), but continual talk of puppies and in particular bra & panties matches and the Playboy shit is something else... In the case of the latter two, you're already in the realms of soft porn.

That's 100% understandable, but what exactly does that do for the product? Do people buy WWE dvds to jack off too? No, they buy it because of the wrestling. So why even have anything not related to wrestling (i.e. all the sexual stuff).

I'm glad. If they were going to do a deal with a nudie mag I at least want to see something other than boobs. Playboy is full of fake and boring women anyway (which fits the WWE divas that have been in it except Maria (well the fake part)).

That's not the realms of soft porn at all. LOL.
Sortcore porn = Nudity and sexual acts where the female is clearly nude, and you can see it, and if a guy is involved, you don't see him nude, and you don't see any of the actual "penetration"
How is a few girls dancing around in a bikini even close to that?

It does not much for the product on it's own. But the whole culmination of an edgier product, which just happens to include "eye candy" divas, does help the product, ratings, and fan interest. First off, like I said, it's not a huge priority to me, but there's no doubt that eventually I would like to see some of the old edginess brought back gradulayy into the product, and all I'm saying is, that happens to include good looking divas, sometimes in things like bikini contests.
