Is going back to Thursdays a good idea?

What do you guys think about TNA heading back to Thursday nights? I know many feel its a sign of retreat, but the way I see it TNA made a good business decision to go back to having their own night of wrestling on Thursdays. I also like how Spike is going to brand it "TNA Wrestling night", its a smart move and something I'm sure will help the ratings in the long run. I find it funny how Dixie is trying to spin it like the fans demanded the change, and TNA decided it was the right thing to do when I'm pretty sure Spike is the one that demanded the move.

What do you guys think?

New York, NY – Spike TV will launch the re-branded “TNA Thursdays,” featuring the “TNA iMPACT!” on Thursday, May 13 (9:00-11:00pm ET/PT).

“The fans have spoken and with their input we have determined the best timeslot to maximize the TNA audience is on Thursday nights where we are confident it will be among the most-watched shows with young men,” said Brian J. Diamond, senior vice president, sports and specials.

Regarding the move to the Thursday time slot, TNA President Dixie Carter added: “Our fans made it clear that they preferred the Thursday night time period. By moving to Thursdays,” this is a win/win opportunity for both TNA and the fans. We are looking forward to delivering what the fans are asking for!"

On Thursday, June 24, Spike TV will expand “TNA Thursdays” to three hours with the addition of “ReACTION.”

“ReACTION” is a one-hour docu-series that will focus on the stories and characters of TNA Wrestling and preview the upcoming action-packed episode of “TNA iMPACT!” in a new format. The new show will kick off “TNA Thursdays” at 8:00 pm ET/PT (beginning June 24), and serve as the lead-in to “iMPACT!”.

It's not a good idea, it's a last resort. If they can't regain what they lost on the Monday night failures, then they could possibly be looking at getting canceled. That would be their death blow unless they are successful enough overseas to keep them afloat, but with no tv deal here they probably lose the Universal Studios deal and everything Spike gives them. And if they lose Spike it's over. Panda won't put up that kind of money to keep it going and their PPV numbers are so low that no PPV carrier wouldn't take them on without TNA putting down HUGE deposits that they wouldn't recoup. They had to do this.

Well I guess in a sense it is a good business idea to salvage what you have, but how good does it make it to counter the insanely bad idea that was going to Mondays in the first place?

They had to go back to Thursday. Hogan and Bishoff bit off more than they could chew by going Monday head to head with WWE. They were getting shit ratings, and god knows how bad it would get in September when Monday Night Football comes on.

I think it did some good because I'm sure WWE fans who wouldn't give TNA the time of day, might have watched clips during the WWE commercials, so there is a possibilty TNA might have better ratings on Thursdays than they were getting in January.

it was really the only thing they could do after that horrible .5 rating. not to mention how bad things would have gotten for them when Monday Night Football a force even Mr. McMahon has to bow down to returns to TV. it was either retreat to Thursday or crumple under Hogan's ego...which will still most likely happen.

it was stupid idea of them to move to mondy Night, Going back to Thursday night is a good idea. TNA really needs to build up atleast 2.25-2.75 TV Ratings on a regular basis to head back to Monday nights.

TNA doesn't need to go back to Monday Nights. One of TNA's biggest problems is about being the next WWE. Everything they do is to try and beat the WWE somehow. Why don't they focus on being the first TNA, and not following in WWE footsteps?

The one off show on Monday's was a good idea, just to test the waters so to speak, and see what they could do again WWE. They should have left it at that, maybe doing a Monday show once a month or something.
