Impact Wrestling will present their 2021 Emergence PPV tonight. Here are our takes on what should happen at the PPV.
Impact Wrestling Champion Christian Cage vs. Brian Myers.
Dave: Cage just beat Kenny Omega and has him again in a few weeks. There is no way that he should lose the Title here. He needs to bring his belts to the PPV.
Mike: Brian Myers has been really great his entire run here, but I don't believe he's been set up for a title run yet. I also don't see Cage coming here and losing on the first title defense. My guess is we have a match with a lot of heel tactics but eventually Sam Beale screws up when trying to help Myers and Cage gets the win with the Killswitch.
Richard: Do you have Christian lose the title after one week as champion? Myers will get a number of chances but it won't be enough. If Christian is going to lose the title, it cannot be in a one on one match (look at his past history as champ)
*X-Division Josh Alexander vs. Jake Something.
Dave: This should be a great match, with Alexander retaining.
Mike: To me, the story here needs to be Jake giving Josh a hell of a competitive bout before the champ overcomes him and gets the win. It's not about Jake going over, but getting over to the audience in a greater degree with a valiant effort.
Richard: This should be a very good match. Josh Alexander is on a major roll and it doesn't seem right to take the title off him yet. Jake will have a strong performance that will justify a rematch down the road.
*Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo and Matthew Rehwoldt vs. Trey Miguel and Melina.
Mike: The right thing to do is have Melina shock Purrazzo with a clean pinfall win in order to give her momentum going into the NWA Empower PPV next week. Matt has been good thus far and Trey is great, so this should be fun.
Dave: I think Mike nailed it.
Richard: Since the title isn't on the line and the bigger story will be challengers for Deonna's title so why not let Melina get the win.
*Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. Violent by Design vs. Willie Mack & Rich Swann.
Dave: Good Brothers get AEW exposure so it makes sense to have them mentioned as the Impact champs. They retain.
Mike: Violent by Design have been awesome since, well, they formed, but I don't feel that we'll be getting a title change here. I also feel that Rich and Willie would be far better served in singles pushes, but they will match well here with everyone as the underdogs. I do hope we get a brawl as fun as Joe Doering vs. Doc Gallows was last night. My guess is Good Brothers retain.
Richard: I wouldn't mind a title change, but I don't see it happening. Mack or Swann will take the fall. We can get the big man match up with Gallows and Doering.
*Sami Callihan vs. Moose vs. Chris Sabin vs. Ace Austin to determine top contender to Impact Wrestling Championship.
Dave: I would go with Moose here. He and Cage would be interesting.
Mike: Each talent has a great claim to being a top contender, but with Cage as champ, the strongest arguments are for Moose and Austin as heel challengers. I'd go with Moose personally as I feel that Moose vs. Cage has an interesting feel to it.
Richard: I would like to see Sabin vs Christian as a title match, but I don't think they are going to go with the face vs face match up. Give it to Moose since he got to face Ishii last weekend.
*Petey Williams vs. Steve Maclin.
Dave: This is where Williams should elevate the younger talent.
Mike: Maclin has been undefeated and stomping people into the ground. Williams is the beloved veteran, so his job is to give Maclin a great match and then give him the rub. Maclin over.
Richard: Maclin will probably win. Just don't let a Canadian Destroyer be a transition move or something that Maclin kicks out of.
*Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green vs. Shera & Rohit Raju.
Dave: This one seems to be Green/Cardona to me.
Mike: My guess is we see Green get the pin on Raju. I don't personally like it as Raju is so great but that's sort of the role he's currently doing for Impact. Shera vs. Cardona wasn't half bad last night but I don't see this being an extended program.
Richard: If Shera wins . . . we shuffle. I don't see Cardona and Green losing this one. Raju deserves so much better than being in the Shera Zone.
*Madison Rayne vs. Taylor Wilde.
Dave: Rayne returned so I see her going over here.
Mike: It's Madison's first match back and they are just putting her and Tenille together as The Influencers. Taylor losing after interference makes sense so she has something to revenge.
Richard: Rayne gets the win in her return to the ring (wasn't she retired from the business?) Tenille and Kaleb interfere.
*Decay vs. No Way & Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans & Fallah Bahh.Mike: Impact has just debuted Savannah, so it doesn't make any sense to see her losing so early. We just saw Tasha pin Havok on Impact on AXS last night. My guess is we see Evans pin Rosemary to keep building the next challengers for the Knockouts Tag Team titles for Decay. I expect a lot of silliness early with No Way, Bahh, Steve and Taurus.
Richard: The two extremes of larger wrestlers on one team, but I think they win because as Mike said, they just debuted Savannah so why not let her get the win.
Dave: I am with Mike and Rich here.
