I know, I just think it's dumb to post this as a fact when neither Viacom or Spike or TNA confirmed it. All three parties say the negotiations are ongoing, nothing is settled yet.
Point taken.
It's not so much about the quality as much as the business side of things.

Wrestling - like any TV show - exists to get the most TV revenue they can, and they do that by attracting advertisers. The advertisers have to think that show is a good place to market their product.

WWE just signed a new TV deal in a time where advertisers should be attracted to a show like Raw, which is assignment programming for 4 million people across the world at a time where viewers often DVR programs and skip past the ads. They didn't, because wrestling fans have the stigma of being unemployed rednecks who don't have the money to spend on anything... and now the WWE Network comes out, and they realize (from the outside looking in) that 1/8th of the 4 million people watching Raw (plus streamers, DVR viewership, Hulu, etc) are willing to pay TEN DOLLARS a month to support the product they love, more less whatever sausage you're trying to sell.
That's my point. Every business model is a projection. They use data to come up with a plan, but those plans are projections.
One could easily surmise that had WWE not employed quality control that Chris Benoit may have ruined professional wrestling.
Is that really true, though? Can you definitively say Benoit was going to ruin the business to the extent they claimed?

Indy wrestlers are still 'killing' people and cutting risque promos. People love it and they love violence. Chris Benoit changing the landscape, are you joking me?

WWE is greedy and that's what this was. It wasn't about Benoit killing business, but about WWE taking the 'angel's' way out from the devil's curse. WWE wanted to make themselves appear pure a midst a chaos that they caused. They encouraged Benoit, the fans encouraged Benoit to take those bumps. He was the rabid wolverine and WWE like that.

WWE are cowards for trying to make wrestling what it, clearly is not. It's greed and absolutely nothing else.

I feel like Bar Rescue and Hungry Investors are like the new breed of shows that Spike wants to start doing more of.
Bar rescue sounds perfect for Kurt Angle if we're being honest.

Anyway I hope TNA gets hooked up with a better deal than Spike they've done their time there imo. Any American people have an idea what their options would be?

Well, if this is indeed true, and it was because of Russo, :lol1:. But yeah, if they found a new network it'd be interesting.

If Spike TV really is just pissed off at them bringing Russo back and tried to cover it up before accidentally forwarding an email to a dirtsheet writer, this is the saddest yet most hilarious story in wrestling history.

But if they want to say Russo doesn't write for them, they can just point to the product. The build to Slammiversary was so atrocious that Testify and I stopped watching TNA. Shortly after that they went under a MASSIVE creative shift. This Dixie vs MVP bullshit was scrapped and Kurt Angle was brought in as GM. Eric Young has been depushed in favor of Roode, Aries, and a monster heel getting pushed by winning matches CLEAN. The shows are very heavy on GOOD wrestling and the days of 2 minute matches are over. It's the exact opposite of a Russo show so I can't imagine why they would be pissed off over Russo anymore.

Not saying there are any concrete truths to this article but it does reveal alternatives TNA could explore if things don't work out with Spike.

* According to our affiliate at Talk TNA Podcast, Spike TV officials will be at the TNA New York tapings this week as both parties are still negotiating the terms on a new deal. Other networks have reportedly shown interest and are meeting with TNA as well. The feeling, internally, is that TNA can offer any network over a million viewers each week, so the future of the company doesn't look as bleak as many have suggested.

Wasn't the name of the guy he theoretically forwarded the e-mail to Mike Johnson? If it was, 141 2/3% absolutely certain that goof forwarded it to him instead of Mike Tenay. But yeah, I bet Russo left around Slammi which is why stuff is good again. He apparently buried the last show for having too much wrestling. Classic Vinny Ru.

Yeah, you know that was some very, VERY dark times when BOTH of us stopped watching. Jesus, holy shit was it that bad? Yep, it definitely was even after third thought about it. Lmao I know my life was quality when I didn't watch TNA in that 30 day period lol. But since Slammiversary, the product has been damn awesome imo.

If Testify stops watching, then the creative shift makes sense.
I'm no Testify mark, but if he stops watching the product must have been awful.

LOL. Wish I could like this twice. Once for the post and once for the awesome reference.

What a fitting end to Vince Russo's career as a wrestling writer. A swerve by his own email.

Russo's argument is that the wrestling fans will watch anything with the word "wrestling" on it, so they need talking to get non-wrestling fans to watch... except Impact's doing better ratings now than it did during that horrendous stretch of tapings. You lose Russo. The amount of talking-to-wrestling on this show is perfect right now. (Except the amount of Dixie talking. Hashtag-It-Happens.)

It was indeed a dark period for TNA between Sacrifice and Slammiversary, it was brutal. Goddamn Impact Zone is 75% of the reason I didn't watch it, though.

- TNA management held a meeting yesterday with talent before last night's taping, noting that they are still in negotiations with Spike and thanked them for all their hard work despite the negative reports. I was told that the meeting left the roster in a very good mood and backstage it was a pretty loose, fun atmosphere among the wrestlers.

- Scott Fishman of Spike TV was backstage at last night's Impact Wrestling tapings.

- TNA has booked the Manhattan Center for a set of TV tapings in September again.
