Although I agree with you that it's a huge hill to climb, with all these groups popping up there has to be someone who isn't picking a side and is deciding to do it on their own. I imagine that the person who decides to do things their own way has to have the upper hand in a way. This way there's no bigger purpose at play and he can just work for himself and himself alone, and he doesn't have to answer to anyone.
