I heard a bit about fighters staying near Vegas because there's looser restrictions so MMA feds hold a lot of shows there

UFC has shows in Vegas literally every weekend almost bc that's where their Performance Center equivalent thing is lol

Pretty much most of what I know about MMA comes from reading old Observers

But historically the Nevada athletic commission was much more lenient about MMA so that's why shows were always there, New York didn't even fuckin' legalize it as a sport until like within the last 10 years bc it was a big deal when they got to run MSG for the first time lol

I don't really think many states care anymore, if any. But Vegas has became home by now so that's just where the fighters go

My favourite tidbit is they jobbed out Dan Severn in UWFi so if he beat Royce Gracie they'd say "ah, we told you our guys were better"
