The Ascension's whole gimmick is "Illuminati confirmed". All the word Illuminati means is 'enlightened' so they're ascending to high planes of existence, not necessarily worshiping the devil. Aleister is an Irl occultist and implied on NXT to be a satanist, however most modern satanist don't worship the devil. They see Satan as a representation of individuality and the power of self/humanity.
