I read somewhere that if it wasn't gonna be Hogan, they were gonna have the marketing engine behind Jimmy Snuka, Junkyard Dog or Hillbilly Jim. Not sure on that last one though. lol.

Either way though, I think Randy Savage easily could of matched the marketing power and charisma of a Hulk Hogan if given that spotlight.

In all honesty, anyone who had good charisma and got that unbelievable "Superman" push. Snuka probably would have been it since he was the top face there before Vince fell in love with Hogan.

Warrior could have been but there is debate behind that because all the momentum he had was because of Hogan giving him the win at mania and if there was no Hogan like the topic title states, Warrior would be a mid carder.

Warrior didn't gain his momentum from beating Hogan... If he wasn't already over like a motherfucker they wouldn't have put him over Hogan. Beating Hogan just elevated him further.

Also, he didn't join WWF til nearly 4 years after Hogan won the belt - God knows how appalling he must have been in the ring in '84! lol

Tough one. I always thought Mr. Perfect had the ability and the charisma, but I would have placed my bets on Macho. He had the drive and determination and was sadly overshadowed by Hogan, and in some ways, still is.

My vote went to the Macho Man. I'm not sure if he was around at WM 1 off the top of my head, but he was there at WM 2 and already had a good foundation with a ton of potential. Piper/ Macho probably would have been your top 2 guys from WM 1-4, until the Ulimate Warrior came around. Steamboat also would have been higher on the card.
