Nah. Let’s give him that 17th before he retires. Because fuck Flair.
If you wanna be technical, Flair has more than 16, it's just those 16 are WWE recognized.

I’m kinda glad this didn’t happen cause Rock beating Roman at Mania only for Roman to get his win back at like Summerslam would’ve pissed me off. No sense in ending Roman’s reign in that scenario other than the mania moment like you mentioned.I'd probably just guess Roman again. And we have the same question asked about who's beating Roman and then it'd be someone like Bron down the line. Not sold Rock would win but if he did it's just a Mania moment for Roman to win back
Orton’s getting itNah. Let’s give him that 17th before he retires. Because fuck Flair.
I’m fine with that also.Orton’s getting it
Yeah well I mean do you wanna have Cena or Orton have to get to whatever that number is?If you wanna be technical, Flair has more than 16, it's just those 16 are WWE recognized.

holy shit me and Grim are agreeing someone take a picIf Cody never returned in the Spring of 2022, then the current alternatives would have been:
- Seth Rollins: A decent choice, given each character's history. It probably would have been the most obvious and I'm not sure anyone would have really wanted to see it.
- Brock Lesnar: Yuck. No thanks.
- The Rock: The obvious choice but I'm not sure WWE would really want to put the title back on the Rock 11 years to the date he last won the title (when that was considered a terrible idea back then too).
- Jey Uso: Another plausible answer given the story that was told, and I definitely could see it. It would have made Jey an absolute god at that point and cemented him as a face of the future in defiance of his family.
- Kevin Owens: Another solid choice, it could have worked but considering how he was booked to lose all the time against Roman, I don't think fans would have bought into it as much.
- Randy Orton: Maybe? Could work, but I think it would not have been as hyped as it would be.
- John Cena: Please no, I think while it would have been intriguing, it would be a terrible decision in hindsight.
- Sami Zayn: The correct choice. He was over as fuck in 2023 going into 2024, and the face turn is one of the all-time greats. Extend that feud a couple of months and give Sami his moment at WrestleMania 40 and I still think it would have gone down as an all-time moment in the vein of Cody winning, especially if Kevin Owens comes out to help.
