I'm not sure I agree with saying that Brock Lesnar sold out, but whatever.

To answer the question, would Cena have gotten his chance to main event? He absolutely would have, and he would have gone on to became a bigger star than Lesnar and he would still be the face of the company. Just watch Cena's match with the Big Show at WM 20, the same ppv where Lesnar wrestled his last match. The crowd was going nuts for him, and that was when he was in the mid card. John Cena was going to be a star regardless of who else was in the company.

^^^^^Wrrrrrong!!!!

Batista's push was facilitated by the losss of Goldberg & Lesnar - It's pretty damn obvious to see.

If Brock Lesnar didn't sell out after WrestleMania XX...

Do you think John Cena would have got his chance to main event?

Yes – Without a doubt (He was already hot as hell by the time Lesnar left.)

Ironically, Cena/Lesnar a few years later, reprising their 03/04 fued would have been BIIIIIIG, IMO.

Would Batista have been successful since Batista and Lesnar are practically the same character?
(Reference: At WMXIX Cole said "the animal has been unleashed" after Lesnar beat Angle.)

Hell no... Batista would have never got such a footing in the company with Lesnar AND GOLDBERG still about.

What would the WM21 card have looked like?

Lesnar/HHH was rumoured, but maybe they’d have done Cena/Lesnar?

Would there be a JBL?

Hmmm.... That’s tough. IMO ya got three guys that REALLY benefitted from Lesnar’s exit: Batista, JBL and EDDIE GUERRERRO

Would he have been drafted to Raw?

Eventually, yes.

I've raised this point a couple of times lately, but does anyone else think that Eddie G was fortunate in as much as other elements playing massive parts in his gaining a world title push?

I think the plan was to give the belt to Eddie Guerrero nonetheless. Remember Brock Lesnar was going to be depushed a little for a while, which played a factor in him leaving WWE, and since WWE had to be shooting for the Benoit/Guerrero moment since the moment they made the WMXX card, I think he was going to win the belt anyways

Well, would Cena be the face of the company? Probably not. He'd be one of the faces of the company.
But both he and Batista would've made it to the main event, and been sucessful. It seems like WWE planned for Cena to main event eventually anyways, because since 2003, he was being pushed hard, and you could also tell (by filming th emovie before he ever was even in the main event) that they had big plans for him. He would've been fine, and so would Batista. But, instead of being "THE guys", they'd just be another one of "those guys" in the main event.

Batista NEVER would've made it to the spot he is at today. Lesnar and Goldberg were gone, that gave him his chance to be pushed. Guerrero's death left him as the only real viable Smackdown face, so he's pretty much just the perfect example of right place/right time.

Why is it a sellout to leave the WWE to go do something else you want to do? These guys don't owe us or the WWE their whole productive life.

I think in terms of how ridiculously athletic Brock is; it's more a shocker that his career didn't go the other way around....MMA then WWE.

I don't think it's a shocker at all. It was in 2000 when he decided to pursue a career in pro wrestling. Pro wrestling at that time was one of the hottest things around, and MMA was best known for putting on fights between sumo wrestlers and boxer. Had Brock Lesnar been 10 years younger and just finishing college now, I would say that there is a great chance he would choose MMA over pro wrestling, given how popular MMA has become over the last 5 years.

I agree. If you were an athlete coming off a great college athletic wrestling career, most likely you were going to become a pro wrestler. But in this day and age, more people might see more success in ultimate fighting, it pays alot and the travel schedule is no comparison. That's why I think the influx of talent to pro wrestling is slowly decreasing. That's why most new talent sucks on the indy scenes and in FCW and OVW.

Cena would have still been Cena. He was already being built up as the face of the WWE in late 2004. Filling the voild left by The Rock, Austin etc.

Batista would not have been given such a consistant push if Lesner was around, I still feel he would have been given a push but he would not have became "The Animal" that was imo originally intended for Lesner. But with Lesner's "Sell out" as many are referring to really left the need for a monster type of face in the main event.

JBL would have been around but I think he would not have been given the WWE Championship for nearly as long. If at all.

I thought WWE created JBL because they needed a main event heel spot that Lesnar left. That's why they split up the APA for some reason. It was all completely random to me, plus they immidiately shot him into title contention. That's weird.
