So tonight my wife and I went to a Stag and Doe. The Groom to be is actually an old family friend as well as a co-worker at Gamestop. Many other Gamestop employees were there as well. One by the name of Steve had come with some of his friends Warren and Victoria. Both I have met before. Steve came and sat down and was talking with my wife and I. At one point in the evening (granted with a few beers in him) he points out how Victoria is flirting with him. Some jokes are made and the topic moves on to the next.
A little while later he pulls out his new cell phone. He hands it to me and says what do you think? I start checking it out and Steve keeps getting up from the table and running over to others and is acting all kinds of stupid on the dance floor. I come across the txt msg section and notice the last person he txted was Victoria and that it was a harmless conversation about where they would meet to come to the Stag & Doe. At this point I decide to joke around a bit....
I txt to Victoria using Steve's Phone: Hey so why not come home with me tonight instead.
Victoria at this point probably realizing that Steve is probably just joking around replies with: I don't know Warren is pretty good in bed.
So I reply: I know, I've had Warren many times, but as he will tell you I'm better
Victoria Replies: I don't think so.
So I reply again: I can get other refrences.
I then send another msg: Warren doesn't need to know
Victoria Replies: No he doesn't
I reply again: Or maybe a little threesome action.
Victoria: I don't know what to say.
Now keep in mind the first couple msgs I sent Steve was on the Dance floor and Victoria was recording it with her phone and got the msgs while watching Steve on the Dance Floor. So I was pretty sure she had figured out that it wasn't Steve and either way was just joking around until I saw her last msg. Steve finally caught on that I was messing aroung on his phone but didn't seem to be that concerned. He realizes that I must be sending msgs to Victoria and he looks across the room and says "Glen, she's upset" I look over as well and it does apear that she might be crying. I hand the Phone back to Steve and he reads what has been said and he shakes his head.
I figured I should come clean. So I go over and Victoria is crying, but Warren doesn't seem to be too upset of phased. And at certain points it looked like he was reading the txt msgs as well. I bend down and I say to Victoria, if your going to be mad at anyone don't be mad at Steve be mad at me. I was the one sending the msgs. She starts laughing realizing it was a joke but she is also angry and upset as well. She shoves me and calls me an asshole and then gives me a hug.
I tell her why I thought she knew it wasn't Steve to which she realized that yes it couldn't possibly have been Steve. Warren the whole time doesn't seem this upset about it. At this point it seems all is well Victoria and Warren come over to Steve they have a group hug, we talk all together a little more about it. Steve says he's not upset because he himself is a big fan of these types of jokes and feels I may have outdid him and myself with this one.
My wife and I were talking about this and I found out that while I was talking to Victoria, my wife was talking to Steve about it. Victoria told me that she knew Steve used to like her and she thought maybe it was starting again. Both my wife and I saw clearly that Steve still does indeed like Victoria but seems to have accepted that she is with Warren and not him. My wife asked Steve, if she is with Warren and happy with him why would she even be so emotional and upset about the whole thing? Steve told her that apparently Warren was merly a rebound guy from her last relationship. Michelle explained to Steve and I agree with her and we talked more about it after we left, that obviously Victoria has some feelings for Steve as well and that maybe she isn't really all that happy with Warren and the responses to my msgs and her reaction to the msgs seem to confirm that.
So I guess I have two questions. 1) Do you agree that Victoria might have feelings for Steve, and that Steve may actually have a shot with Victoria if he actually came out told her exactly how he feels about her? 2) I'm I a total asshole for nearly breaking up a relationship and friendships, or have I perhaps done these people a huge favour, or maybe a little of both favour and asshole?
