After the continuous promos shown for John Cena vs Batista @ WM I have noticed something, and it is really bugging me. Batista said to Cena that they were the 2 biggest stars of WWE since the attitude era. Now the reason this bugs me is because I can't help but feel for Randy Orton who along with Cena is the biggest star in WWE since the attitude era imo. With Randy Orton in a very badly worked match at Wrestlemania and now Batista saying this (with King and Cole agreeing) is this indicating WWE losing faith in Randy Orton?

Really Vince put a lot of stock in Batista and John Cena in 2005 when they gave them the belt at WM21 and had them as champions for damn near a year. Randy Orton had some problems with authority in 06-08 so it was hard for Vince to put so much faith in him. WWE has always had three to five main guys anyway.

In the attitude era it was Austin/Rock/ Triple H/ Undertaker/ Angle

Now its Cena/Batista/ Orton/ Jericho/ Edge.

Orton is a main guy and is in no way losing faith in him. Its just we have seen Orton vs Cena/ Batista before and theres only so much you can do with it. This is just to hype up Mania more. Orton has been in championship matches the last two Manias so its something different for Randy before I believe he will feud with Batista.

I would like to think he means like star power wise and if so he's right. I'm a huge, HUGE, Orton fan but its hard to be a heel and build as much star power as a face like John Cena or Batista. Even your best heels, Orton and Edge easily, can't generate as much star power as your best faces Cena and Batista.

On a side note I of course think Edge and Orton > Cena and Batista.

@TheAnswer. I thought that just as I posted this thread, it was orginally meant to be to say Batista is not one of the 2 biggest stars since the attitude era but, as usual, I got carried away whilst posting and it ended up completely different to what I intended.

I think they are saying Batista and Cena are the biggest star that started their careers after the Attitude Era. That is why Edge is not included in that statement. Edge was fully active in the Attitude Era so that might be why he doesn't count.

Orton on the other hand. That is sort of hard to judge. Orton is younger than both Cena and Batista so they might just be expecting that much more out of Orton come the future. Cena and Batista go hand in hand for being HUGE superstars of the post-attitude era. WrestleMania 21 explains it all. They both won their first world titles there. Orton, I know, won his World title before that, but his reign was a month while Cena and Batista's were nearly a year. Dave and Cena's reigns mean way more and had much more of an impact on the fans than Orton's victory. Orton has been just as good a performer as Cena or Batista, but Orton really got going from late 2007 onward while Cena and Batista have been dominating since late 04-early 05. I can somewhat see why they didn't include Orton in that statement.

Great thread! I think the only real star from the Attitude era was Austin. Everyone else was already a star and was amplified by this or got bigger after the fact, (see HHH).

^^^That would be an all star match but I'd rather seen MVP vs. Cena just for something fresh.

I would definitely love to see it. We have seen each guy fight the other, but never all three at once. The stipulation would most likely just be Extreme Rules, I doubt those three guys can do a ladder match. The typical Last Man Standing at Extreme Rules won't work with 3 people. A cage match possibly.

Post Mania I would love to see Cena side with Orton against Legacy. The FU/RKO finisher was pretty sick.

Brain Wave! At Fatal-Four-Way Cena/Orton/Batista/Edge, that would be so random and I don't have a clue how they could do it but it would be epic and a positive to such an awful stipulation PPV.

Yeah! But unless they even out them four in the draft so there is 2 on SD and 2 on Raw. It would still be very random storyline wise which is why I can't see it happening any time soon.

Unless the winner of MITB cashes in that night and leave one of them without a title!

Could happen but I hope whoever wins keeps hold of it for a while and maybe do like what Edge did so they can prove themselves before making the leap from mid card to main event.
