The No Smark Zone 7: Judgment Day Fallout and WWE Releases
Welcome to the 7th Edition of the No Smark Zone. I thank all of you for being so understanding when it came to the last few weeks as school has been kicking my ass. But I made it and now its off for 3 months of fun (work) and sun (sunburn). This week we are going to talk about the releases by the WWE as it seems to be the hot topic now a days and we will also cover the Judgment Day Fallout.
The first thing we will get to is the WWE release situation. A few times a year the WWE will go through its roster and cut the fat so to speak. A lot of the times, these releases piss people off royally as someone’s favorite “he’s so underused†star gets cut. And this round of cuts is no exception, so lets delve into it….
Some of the cuttees were never seen….
Angel Williams: Some OVW schmuck. I haven’t seen him ever so I can’t say I will miss him. Internet reports are scattered on this guy. Some say he was great, some say he was average, and some say he was crap. Well, all I can say is his name is Angel and I think it’s a cool name.
2 Cold Scorpio: I thought this guy would help out in ECW as an “Original†or something like that, but alas it wasn’t to be. It sucks for him, but who knows, I bet this frees him up for indy bookings where he can actually get paid. Unless of course the WWE was paying him to sit on his ass which would have been sweet for him.
Henry Godwin: Why was this guy resigned? He sucked back in the day and he sucks now. I like “tall hogs at the trough†but he sucks ass. I don’t see where he would have fit in, even if he would have got another P.I. so to speak. Can you imagine this fat fuck trying to hang with the likes of London and Kendrick, Regal and Taylor, or even the new comers Deuce and Domino?
A lot o the guys, however, were very inconsistent when it came to WWE TV
Rob Conway: I had a rather heated discussion with someone on the board about this. I really, REALLY, didn’t see anything good about Conway at all. Everything about him just screamed “generic†to me. His look, his promos, his moves, nothing stood out to me. What was the difference between him, Rene Dupree and Sylvan?
Scotty 2 Hotty: The perennial jobber in the WWE. I’m actually very surprised that he got fired. I mean he has been around FOREVER and been a very loyal soldier for the WWE. kinda like Val Venis or Viscera. He’s not really that bad of a wrestler but he was far past his prime. I remember though that I saw him fight in a dark match against one of the hottest stars on WWE TV right now. None other than CM Punk. I had never really heard of CM Punk before this but I was impressed at the match that the two guys had. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I could see him being picked up by TNA much like the Basham’s were, if only for some short term use to stick it to McMahon.
Nick Mitchell: The former annoying semi mouthpiece of the Spirit Squad. I actually liked all of those guys but, much like the Con Man, a lot of them seemed to generic to me. But this guy stood out to me, just because he was SO obnoxious. I don’t see why if this guy was cut, the rest weren’t cut as well. I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m as big a fan of Kenny as the next guy (if only because we share a name) but I mean really, what made this guy more expendable than the rest? Perhaps he shit in someone’s Fruit Loops?
Vito: This guy, I liked. Not because he was great in the ring. Not because I liked seeing a guy walk around in a dress. I liked Vito because of the comments that would be made by JBL when he came out. There was NO LACK of humor whatsoever. So I believe that this loss will leave a big hole in JBL’s game, which is already being filled by The Miz.
If the WWE didn’t want to continue with the cross dressing angle, they could have sent him off to ECW to back up Nunzio again. I mean it would have been very predictable, however it would have been a way to use him, and even reunite the F.B.I. if only for a short time.
Ariel: This is the worst release for me. Why? Well its because I’m a sucker for a goth chick. I REALLY liked her. Though I didn’t quite understand why the WWE were sending a supposed GOTH to a tanning salon as she was clearly NOT pail. Anyway, she could have been used in the non existent Women’s Division if they were so dead set on splitting her from Kevin Thorn. But she’s gone now. I think she could be of good use in TNA, and I think we might see her there sooner than later.
Sabu: Ok so most of us saw this coming and I say good riddance to bad rubbish. This guy is completely useless. Granted, not as generic and useless as Conway, but still useless. The guy habitually messes up in the ring, botching his spots, was late for work, and even (supposedly) FELL ASLEEP BACKSTAGE!! What the fuck is going though this guys mind? You would think after getting busted with drugs he would have straightened up his act, but I guess not. And if getting arrested wasn’t enough to change him, well then fuck Sabu and the horse he rode in on. I really never liked him anyway.
Ok, now that I have alienated half of you, let’s move on to a little nicer topic, the fallout from Judgment Day. You might be asking why I’m not doing a review. Well, I didn’t get a chance to see it and I, unlike a lot of other so called “good reviewers†on the internet, will NOT review a PPV unless I actually see it. I don’t just take a look at the results and base my review on whether or not I like the outcome. I shall, instead, look towards the future and try and figure out where we go from here.
The WWE Tag Titles: As I’ve stated all over the place, I have no fucking clue where the WWE is going with Cade and Murdoch. A lot of people thought it was only a partial face turn and the heels would then show their true colors. However after a buttload of awesome matches and 2 PPV’s later, the Cowboys still haven’t jumped the Hardyz yet. I really don’t know where its going to go and it’s exciting. Will the Cowboys finally turn heel again? Will the Hardyz turn heel on the Cowboys? Or will the WWE go in some other direction? Who knows. All I know is that it will be exciting. Especially now with the WGTT being thrown into the mix. When’s the last time we had a good 3 or 4 team tag team match?
Carlito: First of all, I’d like to restate that I think the “doghouse†rumors about this man and others are absolute bullshit. I think it was or is a simple case of not having something to do for that star at that time. I think with all of the injuries in the WWE and the moving of Edge over to Smackdown, Carlito is going to get a chance to shine once again and he is NOT going to disappoint. And as far as Flair goes, well I’m sure he’ll be grabbing someone’s nuts sooner or later.
CM Punk/Elijah Burke and ECW: The reason I am not including this with Bobby Lashley and Vince is because those two really have NOTHING to do with the brand. These two guys, Punk and Burke, really ARE the present and future of the ECW brand, if not the WWE too. I see these guys continuing their feud in some manner for the time being if only to keep them in matches together as they seem to work VERY well together. I’m rather excited to see these guys develop because they are so good now as undeveloped talent, they can ONLY get better with more experience in the big leagues.
Lashley and Team McMahon: Lashley is getting over like gangbusters. The pop for him winning at Judgment Day was friggn HUGE. I don’t see the feud continuing after ECW One Night Stand however. It could continue, in another fashion as Vince could back a different monster in his pursuit of Bobby boy. That monster, Snitsky!
Randy Orton: This man has the most questionable future out of everyone. With HBK being out with an injury, his future is WIDE OPEN. He could target another legend. He could join the McMahon/Umaga alliance and try to destroy Bobby Lashley while adding some variety to the feud or he COULD (and the most likely choice) go after John Cena and his WWE Title. At least until HHH comes back. Then its “bye bye MONKEY!â€
The WHC: Edge and Batista is going to be a feud that will determine Smackdown’s survival. If this feud tanks, it’s going to spell MAJOR trouble for the brand because there really is no one else to pick up the slack. But I’m not really worried as Edge is really proving to be a good main eventer (not able to carry anyone yet) but still able to hold his own with anyone. And Batista, and I don’t give a flying fuck what anyone says, is getting better too. The douchebag smarks can talk about the “Warrior†syndrome all they want, but Batista is better than that piece of shit ever could be. I think this will be a highly entertaining feud on the A SHOW for months to come.
The WWE Title: Man I hope this shit doesn’t go on much longer. But I think Khali/Cena will be over after ONS as well because the WWE cant really cover up Khali’s flaws much after that. I have no idea what Khali will do after this is over (perhaps take over Umaga’s spot in feuding with Lashley?), but I think Orton will go on to feud with Cena. I don’t know how it will go, but Karnack says it will happen.
There you have it folks, Karnack the amazing consulted with me and we just gave you the future of the WWE. He will be back sooner than you think, so be on the look out.
I have decided to discontinue the Ultimate Tourney because the reaction isn’t very strong for it. If I find a reason to bring it back, I will, if not, it’s gone for good.
That’s it for this week. Next week I will debut a new feature called “State The Obvious†along with the return of FACT or FICTION and my One Night Stand Predictions. Until next week, see ya on the flipside!
